If I were to reveal my father’s given name, it wouldn’t take much time for an interested party to find out who I am. Therefore, I don’t plan to share that piece of information.
There may be other unique things about myself I could share, but doing so would be a risk to my privacy.
Without revealing exactly what unique things set you apart from everybody else, can you at least indicate what type(s) of thing is involved in your uniqueness?
Possibilities for such attributes:
– I live on the only street in my town named after a game bird
– I was valedictorian of my high school class in 1973
– My mother was the only child of the only child of a US senator from Wisconsin
– The spelling of my last name is an anagram of a brand of toilet paper
(These are made up and do NOT apply to me. Just examples of things that might work.)
I’ll be the first to actually respond to OP. I am the first person in my family on either side (maternal and paternal) to graduate college, let alone get a graduate degree.
My last name is shared by fewer than 100 people in the US, and they’re all directly related to me. It’s an unusual name, but not spelled weird or pronounced in a strange way, yet people always feel the need to insert extra letters when spelling or pronouncing it.
Not unique to me, but to two of my cousins:
Both their paternal and maternal grandfathers have an identical distinction belonging to approximately 0.001% of a subset (~0.3%) of the US population. I can’t really figure out a way to elaborate on that without providing enough information to identify them.
Hubby and I are the only one’s in this country with our surname
I’m the only one in my direct family to have a Degree
I can stick my tongue up my nose ( )
From late 1993 to early 1997 I was the executive director of a prominent business organization in Indonesia. Though 4-5 people have held the position since I left 10 years ago, by googling the right set of words one still gets a few cobweb pages showing me as the ED.
One also wonders exactly how many Americans living in Cairo have a nine-year-old son, are probably named Carol, and used to live in Indonesia and Micronesia (all facts I’ve shared here).
It would make me feel kind of queasy thinking about the potential lack of privacy, except that I can’t imagine anyone cares. (What are they going to do anyway, track me down and try to blackmail me by threatening to publicize an ill-considered post? I think not.)
