I watched a load of live feeds today, and there tooled-up cops everywhere. It was them who dispersed the Nazi scum out of the park when things started heating up, from what I could tell.
You have mental issues.
People still look to the president to nurse society’s scars? How pitiful for all of them.
That said, this event could bring some more of the crazies out, and that is worrisome. I also wish the victims and their families well.
Shouldn’t that be one of the president’s duties, to work on uniting us as Americans? I think Trump revives an old standard, and you would probably have to go back as far as Coolidge or Wilson to find a POTUS that would have handled the Charlottesville events the way Trump has. I’m pretty sure even Bush Jr and Nixon would have done better.
No, quite frankly that is perverse.
Say what now?
The Daily Stormer is happy.
Hardly surprising the Nazis love themselves some Trump.
Some initial thoughts from having some training while in the Guard and being in a Training Support Battalion that was responsible for non-lethal weapons/crowd and riot control training for troops deploying to theaters where that was a requirement (like Kosovo.) Thankfully I never had to execute it for real. Really, really thankfully. My battalion was part of the OPLAN to respond to Detroit in case of potential riots after the verdict in the Malice Green trial. By the plan we were to take our armored personnel carriers. Did I mention I am really glad that mission stayed hypothetical?
- The police were hugely outnumbered. They always are.
- Intervention tends to escalate the situation. If you aren’t deliberate and careful in acting, things can go from bad to OMFG full scale riot in the blink of an eye.
- The assembly hadn’t yet been officially deemed an unlawful assembly at the beginning. Barring legal declaration there may well have been a lot of perfectly innocent people lawfully standing in their way to get to the fight. It’s generally considered bad form to just start using force against people that you know aren’t breaking any laws. (Which feeds back to the point above.)
- It looks like they got the declaration out in a pretty reasonable time frame once the fight started and it was clear things were going irretrievably downhill. That waiting period is pretty normal. You want the people that aren’t immediately breaking the law and willing to peacefully disperse to go before you have to forcibly clear the rest of the area. It helps reduce the intensity of the crowd dynamic which can mitigate the situation or be enough in and of itself. It also reduces how badly outnumbered the riot control forces are if things continue to get worse anyway.
This is wrong.
Traitor Trump basically just phoned in a standard response. No doubt he was running late for his tee time. What a sorry excuse for a leader.
If the right-wing protesters come out again tonight, I have no problem whatsoever with the police bashing their heads in or even shooting them like dogs.
Yeah, I’m dumbfounded too, for what it’s worth.
Egregiously creepy sentiment
No, they should be arrested (assuming they are breaking the law) with the exact same level of consideration that we wish the police would give to African-Americans.
C’mon, folks! Stand up for human decency and non-violence, folks! You are absolutely playing into the hands of the alt-right when you advocate violence. Be better than they are.
the fuck, man?
Where were you when Antifa was burning Berkeley? You are also a sick man with your calls for extrajudicial violence.
"I’m not black but there’s a whole lotsa times I wish I could say I’m not white…” Frank Zappa.
That’s odd. I always thought it was assault with a deadly weapon.
But maybe it’s just me–I’m old-fashioned that way.
When it’s done for political reasons (i.e. in support of white supremacism), it’s terrorism. We don’t know that’s the case yet, though.
My heart goes out to the victims and their loved ones.
The Don had a bee-you-tiful chance to blow an angry load all over these lemons and their violent march. In fact, I thought self-righteous anger was part of his MO. Instead, he equivocates like the nazi-sympathizing slime that he is. The man is incapable of affirming what should be our values. What a burden…
Seriously? Somebody should’ve reminded him of what the Nazis did to Russia back in the 1940s.
