What if they can’t march legally? Is it okay if ISIS can’t march legally? Is freedom of speech destroyed if they can’t march legally?
If ISIS can’t march legally, what about other groups? Can it be illegal for other groups to march? Can groups be added to that list? What has to happen for groups to be added to that list?
That’s because this whole “government by the people” thingy is doomed to be no smarter than we are. And identity politics is a needful tool, its how the Irish became normal, how the Italians became normal, how people of color are becoming normal. Google gaggle, google gaggle, one of us, one of us.
The people of color is a turn of phrase to raise awareness, to unite people of various heritages for their common good. It also allows a polite term for the subject (and it beats the shit out of “not white”.) When you hope to unite the Irish and the Italians, first thing is teaching them a more progressive vocabulary than “wop” and “bog trotter”.
A commitment to equality often makes for awkward public speaking. But that’s about all it is, no reason to get all knickertwisted. Fuhgeddaboutit!
Oh, this. “…Just like I don’t understand why people and professors are communists…” Can you show us on this doll where the lefty professor touched your mind?
If you don’t say what I want you to say, you are them.
Hell I’ll even said you said things you didn’t say, to make you them.
And now I can wallow in my fantasies of murdering people, without punishment or consequence, because I’m the good guy and ALL others are the bad guys.
Mental note: Latro is kind of stupid. For the record, there are only three scenarios where marching with people carrying Nazi flags and chanting Nazi slogans doesn’t make you a Nazi:
You are an undercover federal agent;
You are a journalist looking to shed light on the movement;
You are Zelig and are just coming to from your fugue state.
Any other scenario, you are a Nazi. Further, if you spend time and effort trying to argue that some people marching with Nazis aren’t Nazis, you’re a fucking asshole.
Assuming you are merely a tireless defender of civil liberties, I’m sure your posting history is littered with examples of impassioned defenses of non-Nazi Americans.
I say let them march and leave them be, because I think their true numbers are small. I gather that the call went wide for the Fourth Retch to gather by the thousands. Well, did they? Do they even have thousands to gather?
How many people hassling in the streets of Charlottesville actually lived there? When and where will the Aryan Brotherhood put up a candidate for office?
Exactly. And when those who are there for the lolz, or southern pride or whatever see what company they are keeping with the real Nazi’s they’ll be disillusioned pretty quick.
Calling just about everyone a Nazi and physically attacking them was very wrong.
Violence begets violence, doncha know.
