You know, I’ve spent alot of time on the webs looking at pics and reading articles about the Charlottesville mess and I have not seen any Nazi regalia. These groupsare not Nazis. They are American white nationalists. They may turn out to be just as awful (or worse) as the Nazis. But they are not the same.

There’s this thing called nuance. Typically conversations happen and participants understand these things so conversations don’t get too derailed with hyper pedantic definition seeking. If you truly believe that wearing a costume in extremely bad taste is the same as doing so at a white pride rally, well, okay. That doesn’t have anything to do with yesterday, though, and there was no reticence in liberal politicians denouncing him. Further, he didn’t have a “kill cops and/or white people” movement/rally behind him.

In a few minutes looking around pics from Charlottesville, I saw several swastika tattoos and multiple nazi salutes. Like their piece of shit leader in the White House, their equivocating, weaselly language says it all.

It seems unlikely that it’s just me that questions why you would defend the indefensible so reflexively and persistently.

I do not expect but would appreciate an honest and self-aware response that doesn’t use “but freedom of speech!” as an excuse for instinctively defending fascists, racists and various related vermin.

It appears that there’s at least a rear plate, at least. The only image I have right now is of some conspiracy theory about the driver being a leftist, so I’m not going to link to it, but seems quite clear that there’s a license plate. Of course, just because the license plate is still attached doesn’t mean it was not premeditated. I don’t have enough information one way or the other to comment about the driver’s motives or plans, but it certainly appeared deliberate.

I don’t know if he was in the military or not, but if i’m reading that report right, it’s just about some individual with the last name “Fields” born in April 1997. I imagine there were a number of people with that same family name and birth month. The end of the report says “without a SSN, the DoD cannot authoritatively assert that this is the same individual …”

ETA: my quote is imprecise. I’m posting from my phone, and couldn’t copy the text. I believe I captured the gist of it at least.

For the most part, I agree. But these people really think that Trump is on their side (and say so repeatedly), and IMO Trump has not done enough to renounce them. Trump has used really ugly language about people like Obama, Hillary Clinton, and other Democratic politicians – but he’s unwilling to use the same ugly language about David Duke and other white supremacists. Why doesn’t he say these white supremacists are pathetic losers? Why doesn’t he say they are terrible Americans, and dangerous to America? I think it’s because Trump can’t find it within himself to criticize people who love him, even when the people loving him in question are really terrible, terrible people.

What I’m asking for isn’t much. Just that Trump should tweet and publicly say as ugly insults about David Duke and white supremacists as much as he does about Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the Democrats.
