Fuck that noise. It was a simple pleading for factual accuracy. Whether the driver was or was not in the military isn’t really significant to me. Certainly nothing I’d need a “port in a storm” over.
Yes, I’m relaying reports which are of course early. Some early reports are bound to be erroneous. We shall see.
That’s cute. How do you make your eyes go all big and innocent like that?
Agreed, and I appreciate your post, I was just sharing what jumped out at me when I read it.
If Trump had an ounce of integrity (yeah, right), he’d denounce in no uncertain terms the rhetoric and actions of the White Supremacists. None of this “on many sides” bullshit. If there are some other sides that need to be denounced, name them and we’ll decide if it’s correct or not. But one side is clearly something that needs to be marginalized.
Here’s hoping your wife is OK, Sailor. My most sincere wishes that things are resolved quickly and favorably.
Of course, the outfit of someone who is expecting to attend an assembly to peacefully express a political opinion… right.
And let’s have a countdown on how long it takes the WH to speak the words “White Supremacist Radicals”… after all they spent all those years on the previous President’s case for not saying “Radical Islamic Terrorist” quick enough.
(Plus right now I feel like the statue of R.E.Lee should not be removed, but destroyed. Let it be a monument to nothing.)
Trump’s “on many sides…” and refusal to specifically condemn white supremacists is particularly awful, even for Trump. Even more disgusting than normal. How can a politician fail to clear that lowest of bars and condemn neo-nazis and white supremacists?
I am truly hoping Sailboat’s wife is okay. Is there any news?
Just saw an interview with a guy dressed like that and with a radio earplug. He said he came for a peaceful demonstration - yeah, battle uniforms are required of any peaceful demonstrator…
I’m starting to think that the white nationalists are a greater danger to our nation than Kim Jong Un.
No question about that in my mind. Kim isn’t much of threat to the US, though.
I’m curious what you perceive the threat to the nation from white nationalists to be?
Assuming you’re not joking: White supremacists have terrorized thousands or more living Americans (and millions more no longer alive). No group or ideology has harmed more Americans, or harmed America more, than white supremacism.
If Ivanka is smart, this is where she starts publicly distancing herself from her pops for the future of her brand. Probably gonna have to lose Jared too, but that’s been true ever since everyone got to hear him speak.
This has been a heartbreaking day.
If there’s a “great enemy” or “great evil” in American history, it’s white supremacism. It’s responsible for the vast majority of oppression, discrimination, and brutality against people living in America in our history. We should all be highly concerned that it still has relevance and more than an insignificant number of adherents.
As far as numbers (i.e. how many white supremacists are there in America?), I’d put the floor at (very roughly) about 3% of our population – that’s the percentage that David Duke got in last year’s US Senate race in Louisiana (I think it’s fair to call people who would vote for David Duke white supremacists). That might seem small, but if we can roughly extrapolate that the whole country, that’s millions of American white supremacists. That’s a lot of nazi scumbags. And there might be more.
I noticed that a LOT of the Nazis were wearing white polo shirts and light colored khaki pants, just like Trump wears when he’s golfing. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. And I saw at least one of them wearing a MAGA cap.
Paul Ryan, surprisingly condemned the Naxis.
“Our hearts are with today’s victims. White supremacy is a scourge. This hate and its terrorism must be confronted and defeated.”
A 32 year old woman was killed in the car crash, 19 injured.
Cannot imagine what Sailboat is going through right now. My thoughts are with him.
David Duke, in response to Trump’s tepid response:
“I would recommend you take a good look in the mirror & remember it was White Americans who put you in the presidency, not radical leftists.”
“Fields’ mother, Samantha Bloom, told the Toledo Blade, a CNN affiliate, that he told her last week he was going to an “alt-right” rally, but she didn’t get involved in his political views. “I told him to be careful … if they are going to rally, to make sure he is doing it peacefully,” she told the newspaper.”
