Same here, it would mean there’s still hope for the US.
If the headlines on CNN are accurate, Iran and Israel are still throwing ordnance at each other.
For the record, the 10 points that Asterion quoted from the BBC article (live stream, the original is at 17:20) are listed as coming from “An Iranian State Broadcaster”, which may be pointing towards internal facing propaganda rather than any actual agreement. Of course, it may also be the actual starting point for Iran’s negotiations (aim high!) but since several of those are dependent on other parties (the UN Security Council and IAEA) and not just Trump…
Large grain of salt.
Later in the article, (17:47) it repeats and amplifies the above, though the source remains the same (internal Iranian broadcasts), and since strikes into Israel and retaliation continue for the moment, there’s the obvious concern that even if Trump waves his hands and says “It’s over” that Israel may not say the same.
IMHO if Iran gets what it laid out, Bibi isn’t going to be able to spin the terms into enough of a “win” to continue to offset his ongoing political and legal issues, especially if Iran IS given free reign on enrichment with no oversight.
Trump is going on about a “total and complete victory”, but he may be deluded as for whom.
Yeah, let’s see the details. I highly doubt DJT and Netanyahu got what they wanted out of this deal. In two weeks of course.
I think this is pretty accurate (From poster EddyTeddyFreddy:
What an idiotic move by the great idiot Trump. There’s no strategic reason for a ceasefire right now; this is just Trump trying to bolster the markets, because obviously market manipulation should be one’s top priority when running a war ![]()
The only question is whether this will turn into a full and permanent TACO job or if he’s just fiddling with the markets.
You persistently make the error of assuming there can only be one baddie - that it is an “either/or” proposition.
OK, I give: WTF does “TACO” stand for, exactly? Everyone seems to know but nobody explicitly spells it out. Obviously it means something like “Back down as they claim victory, take your toys and go home”…
Trump always chickens out.
It’s an acronym:
T rump
A lways
C hickens
O ut
Originally used last year by market traders to describe Trump’s behavior whenever his tariffs caused said markets to tank, it can be used for a surprisingly large number of situations.
ETA: Ninja’ed
I guess Israel didn’t get the memo, Iran just closed the strait again (according to CNN), because Israel bombed Lebanon.
You mean because Hezbollah shot rockets into Israel again? Or are we back to playing the game where we ignore that?
The ceasefire is between Iran, the US, and Israel. Hezbollah is not party to it.
I have no idea, I’m just reporting what CNN is saying right now as headlines. You can do your own research.
I did, which is why I’m informing you that Hezbollah has been firing rockets into Israel with no regard for this ceasefire; it doesn’t involve them in any way.
One of the great benefits of Trump not being involved in the conflict with Lebanon is that he can’t TACO it up.
But he did open Pandora’s box re: the strait.
It looks like Iran plans to use their newfound Strait closing powers to help Hezbollah now, so… what then?
Never mind.
I’m just reporting that the strait is closed again.
I guess that’s what happens when you just declare a ceasefire rather than negotiating terms.
The Art of the Deal!
Agreed.
