That’s more of an embargo than a blockade. It only prevents trade between the US and Cuba. The blockade of Iran is a blockade of all sea traffic to/from Iran. I don’t know if it will be any more successful, but the two situations really aren’t comparable.

I’m not sure that’s true. Mexico seems to trade with both the US and Cuba without a problem.
I think there are (were) ways around it, but Mexico’s exports of oil to Cuba for example are no longer ongoing, part of the aforementioned “turning of the screws”

Well, maybe not trust trust, but I do trust that they’ll actually act in a way they calculate will be in their own best interests, even if I disagree with them on what their own best interests are.
I can no longer trust the US to do the same, with Trump in charge. He acts completely irrationally, flipping and flopping every time the voices in his head suggests that someone, somewhere might think he’s a loser. No matter what deal he signs, it could be tossed out the next day on some stupid whim. And we all know that, we’ve all seen him do exactly that on several occasions.
