After the amount of munitions that have been used over the past 2 weeks, what sorts of targets are left to target? Are we now essentially in a defensive sort of posture, in which we can only respond to what Iran does?

I don’t think we’re in any sort of posture. This war is being run by idiots. They had no plan for the Strait of Hormuz – about the most basic and obvious strategic concern related to any war with Iran there could possibly be. Posture is beyond them.
More and more leaks about supposed misgivings about this war, from high-ups in the administration:
Generally, you see leaks like this when senior people think it’s going to go catastrophically wrong and they want to cover their own asses by saying “I advised against it”. Not terribly surprising with a war with no mission and no plan, run by idiots.
This should be obvious, but Trump bloviating always confuses thing, so it’s nice to have someone sane and serious confirm it - the war is, of course, no where near over. The IDF spokesperson spoke to CNN and confirmed, they have operations detailed out until Passover and even three weeks beyond that.
Passover is on April 1st this year.
At least one poster has implied that this war is just another round of an ongoing conflict:
So why would anything be over by Passover?
As I read it, it’s not about it being all over, but about how far the current operation’s plans run.
Yeah, this current round will be over soon, hopefully. The war as a whole will end when the current Iranian regime decides that it’s willing to end its conflict with Israel (not likely) or is replaced by a regime that is.
It absolutely is part of an ongoing conflict, but unlike at any time except for 12 days last year, we are fighting the source of the threat rather than a proxy group.
Regardless, it sounds like the expectation is that it will very likely go at least three weeks beyond that, too.

That argument ignores the fact that America is not constrained by Israel’s decisions. Israel doesn’t get to decide when the war is over.
"Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe,” Trump wrote on Truth Social…
He added that “hopefully” China, France, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom and other countries “affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated.”
Like most of Trump’s bullshit coming out of his piehole, these two statements do not agree with each other. “many countries” are sending ships, but “hopefully” they will be sending ships.
In other words, he has begged these countries to send ships. Wishful thinking indeed.
“many countries” are sending ships, but “hopefully” they will be sending ships.
It’s how his mind works: if what he does or decides causes you a problem, you should know it’s up to you to do something to fix it, but he still was right all along so you are the one failing if you don’t.
Hengaw with a report on the casualties sustained by Iran so far:

Verified data from Hengaw’s Statistics and Documentation Center shows that 480 of the victims were civilians, accounting for 9.8 percent of the total death toll, while 4,420 were members of Iranian military forces.
I’m not sure what prevents Trump from declaring the war over today, saying the USA will keep drilling more to cope with the blockage of Strait of Hormuz, declare anyone who complains about gas prices to be a liberal, and announce that any subsequent Iranian retaliation for the war will be considered “an unprovoked attack.”
Would be absurd, but totally something his base could buy.
I’m not sure what prevents Trump
He’s fucking stupid.
His ego demands a “perfect victory” where America achieves everything it wants immediately with zero negative consequences.
No message.
His ego demands a “perfect victory” where America achieves everything it wants immediately with zero negative consequences.
As demonstrated by his demand for an unconditional surrender where he gets to appoint a new leadership of his choice. That’s not the kind of demand that you can expect any nation to just roll over for, no matter how big the mismatch is.
Moderating:
Once again, this is not the Trump bashing thread, there are plenty of them.
All of you use a more proper thread.
