I threw four students out of my classroom, at various times, last fall because they were being rude and disruptive, but thank goodness they weren’t violent or threatening. Had that been the case, I would have been on the phone in a split second.
One good thing about the students capturing all of this on video, though, is that it will certainly provide concrete evidence for the follow-up.

That’s what I suspect, too. Poor girl looked very out of touch with reality, and aggression is often the reaction to fear. The prof really messed up here. He needed to get everyone out and away from her (surrounding someone in this situation is the worst thing to do), and get some professionals to deal with her.
Some of the students weren’t too bright. Who the hell keeps themselves trapped in one of the lecture room seats when a not so small crazy lady who is getting crazier and more violent by the minute starts moving around and heading your way?

Forget filming - I’d have been up and out the door when she started swinging her head around like that. That poor girl ain’t right, and that’s a little frightening.

I give the instructor a pass, I am quite willing to bet that he has Never seen a student act like that in his class before.

I know she’s a totally messed up person, but I would have been ROTFLMAO, especially once she turned around to the camera. Which means I would have been the first person to get shot if she had been armed. So I admit, leaving wouldn’t have been my first thought.
I kept waiting for someone to ask “Is this going to be on the final exam?”

From what I’ve read, she had a problem with Darwin’s natural selection, in particular the concept of sexual selection which she mistakenly perceived as racist and sexist.
If you were racism/sexism hypersensitive (and a little dim in the bulb) how would you perceive this statement?
She obviously had a hard time grasping these concepts, personalized them, decided she would take a stand and question it, and really wasn’t happy with the lack of a satisfactory answer. Her anger towards her classmates may have been because she felt they should have been outraged as well.
Or… maybe she just had a problem with peacocks.
Maybe that’s what she was asking, she was in the front row.
