Unpopular or unorthodox views you hold

IMO, if you are a male and collecting alimony from an ex-wife, you should be legally required to wear a dress and answer to the name ‘Wussy Boy’.

Real opinions from moi – I’m just not sure how unpopular they are:
I think Professional Wrestling is the most retarded thing I’ve ever seen.

I think “retarded” is a perfectly viable insulting adjective.

I think Peter Gabriel sucks.

I think boy bands are a travesty and should not be allowed to call themselves “bands”. They should all stop making records and just get network TV shows so that we can get all the really vapid shit in the same place for easy ignoring.

I think Dave Matthews is a pretty good guitar player.

I think Marilyn Manson is doing the star / shock turn recisely right and he kicks ass.
I think Film and Art Appreciation ought to be mandatory throughout all levels of education.

Not only do I think marijuana should be legal, but it ought to be provided to me whenever I want it.
That’s all for now.

Oh, I think Omo is a bigoted asshole too.

I think there’s a reason some views are unpopular.

I wonder if he came in on the wave of undesirables from that website which will not be named because they search for it (but invovles a weather term)-- his racial views certainly seem in line with what we saw from them.

Doubtful, he didn’t mention the Jewish conspiracy once. All of his opinions (most anyway) are utterly vile and despicable… then again that’s what this thread is all about… nonetheless they are opinions held by large swaths of the population both in the US and EU, however sad that is. To boot he’s funny, a little bit the same way a car crash can be funny - just don’t get too close.

Sparc

It sounds like OMO spent 7 years with his head up his ass.

Soooo Izzy… in the end you’re saying that it’s OK for the US to disagree and protest and it’s within Israel’s rights to blatantly ignore this and act as they will? I think you’ll get some support from international law on that one, with the addition that it is only so as long as no conventions or laws are thereby violated. For that matter I’ll agree with you. I’ll also state that I think that the Israeli government (whatever’s left of it) are muttonheads for not seeing how obviously right we are on this one, but that’s an altogether other debate.

Sparc

Shit wrong thread… sorry!

This will be fun.

I think Anna Nicole is sexier now than she ever was.

I think women who use the media as an excuse for how they look or their own nuerotic tendencies should be flogged with a stale PBJ sandwich. It’s your body, your life. You make the goddamn decisions.

I think people who refuse to spay and neuter their pets should be put in prison.

I think women who go back to abusive partners time and time again deserve what they get.

I believe a college degree now signifies nothing except you had money to spend and time to spend it.

I believe Eminem’s movie will be enjoyable, and anyone who dismisses it in favor of shit like White Oleander need slapped.

I believe when you turn eighteen, your parents owe you nothing. You are an adult and I expect you to start an independent life and that means no parental cash flow.

I believe professional wrestling is a much more complicated business than it seems.

I also believe professional wrestlers have far more talent than their naysayers.

If you believe in freedom of speech, then you better support Whitey P. Fuckhead’s right to be a bigoted, racist pig. It’s easy to support the speech you agree with.

I believe I am better than you. And you. And you, you and you.

I believe McDonald’s food is worse than the compost rotting away in the local landfill. I also know it tastes fucking great sometimes.

I believe people feel a lot less than they profess to.

I believe you can control anything in your life to a certain degree.

I believe Wicca and Paganism and Coolioism (okay, I made that up) are just as stupidly blind and stand on pageantry just as much as the RCC.

I believe people who constantly carry on about being raped, molested, or abused need to build a bridge.

And get the fuck over it.

I believe those people who use past experiences such as those above as an excuse for anything need slapped.

I believe the more offensive the joke, the funnier.

I think Jackass is funny.

I believe my pizza is burning.

I believe that this thread is just an excuse to get around the “Don’t be a Jerk” rule.

Guinastasia, was that comment for me or in general?

If it was for me, I don’t think I said anything remotely jerk-ish.

If not, mea culpa, and carry on!

The Republican party is wrong about everything. I haven¡¦t seen a single part of the current Republican platform that¡¦s struck me as anything but a horrible idea. I¡¦m not impressed by the Democrats, either, because too many of them are exactly like Republicans. (My assessment does not include governors, mayors and other local officials, who are much closer to the people the represent and thus not beholden to the party line.)

Griping about long posts is a message board is just pathetic. It¡¦s a message board, for crying out loud. If you don¡¦t like lots of reading, go to a damn oekaki board.

Having ¡§balls¡¨ is totally overrated and too often used to rationalize bad decisions. My primary concern is whether your course of action is wise/just/advisable, not the degree of reckless abandon you pursue it with.

Saddam Hussein should be allowed to do whatever he damn wants. He¡¦s the sovereign leader of an independent state and does not have to answer to anybody except his own people. Furthermore, the US government taking steps to prevent complete inspections just proves that he has no ¡§weapons of mass destruction¡¨ and is no threat to us whatsoever.

There is nothing wrong with going to great lengths to obtain oil. It¡¦s a vital resource, without which our entire infrastructure would come screaming to a halt. However, it is the duty of everyone who uses oil (either directly or indirectly, e.g. oil-generated electricity) to take common-sense measures to conserve it…e.g. no driving to anyplace within easy walking distance…and our federal governement to enact policies that make oil more readily available, not less (e.g. no half-baked war in Iraq).

We could¡¦ve prevented the 9/11 attacks entirely and gotten our oil pipeline if our goddam worthless paranoid CIA didn¡¦t see Communism everywhere and booted a democratically elected socialist president in Iran. It was his ouster, followed by the reinstatement of the Shah (who was an absolute monster) and the later successon of Ruhollah Khomeini that not only fostered metric tons of anti-American sentiment in the Mideast, but also burned a bridge with the best country, geographically, to run the proposed pipeline through. An incredibly moronic reaction to a vague, perceived terror that resulted in an all-too-real terror years down the line.

The expanded playoff system in baseball has been a boon, keeping teams hungry and competitive much longer than the would have under the old winner-take-all system. I do agree that the DH is a bad idea…there should be only eight batters in the batting order.

Marital fidelity is not indicative of ANYTHING ELSE…not the level of commitment to a job or cause, not the ability to obey workplace rules or develop professional relationships…nothing. Same goes for weight problems, bad fashion sense, housekeeping habits, hobbies, etc.

Bill Clinton was damn lucky that his enemies focused obsessively on piddly little non-issues like adultery and that Whitewater thingamajig instead of the mountain ranges of real dirt on him. You know, Don¡¦t Ask Don¡¦t Tell, ¡§managed care¡¨, NAFTA, GATT, the Defense of Marriage Act, getting 18 servicemen killed in Somalia, and countless other half-baked bunglings. Any objective analysis of his term will reveal him to be one of the worst presidents ever, Monica Lewinsky or no.

Anyone who fought in the Vietnam War because of ¡§duty to one¡¦s country¡¨ or ¡§the need to stop Communism¡¨ was a friggin¡¦ sap. Doubly so if he enlisted.

No MP3 collection is complete without at least eight different genres of music. And by genres I mean real genres, not nitpicky subgenres like ¡§darkwave¡¨ or ¡§industrial death metal¡¨ or ¡§acid techno euro house trance¡¨. There¡¦s an incredibly rich universe of music out there, and it¡¦s sad, if not a little pathetic, to like only one or two genres.

There is an afterlife…that is completely unlike any of the asinine depictions put forth by the Catholic Church, television, right-wing talk radio, and similar institutions. (¡§Heaven and Hell¡¨…just what we need, more stupid bipolar thinking.) Karma definitely has something to do with it, and if you live an ethically sound life and try to make the world a better place, you needn¡¦t worry about what awaits you.

At least 90% of anime is loaded, pretentious, tedious, predictabe-as-the-tide crap. OAVs are the worst. Anime adaptations of manga are ALWAYS crap.

The idea that Tiger Woods¡¦ success is going to result in a wave of black PGA hopefuls is ludicrous. At most, he¡¦ll inspire a lot of black kids to try golf, whereupon they find out that it¡¦s insanely expensive and next to impossible to reserve a course to practice on, and switch to a more accessible sport…like basketball.

Every video game console should have exactly one version, which can play any game for that console in the world and never require upgrading. If your system needs a byzantine regional/multiple versions quagmire to make money, it doesn¡¦t deserve to.

It¡¦s possible to be blunt and outspoken without being a complete jerk. Anyone unable to do so has no business hosting a talk show or any kind of game show.

Reality TV is a great concept. The only reason there¡¦s so much bad reality TV right now is that it¡¦s still relatively new and TV execs are trying out lots of ideas to see which one work.

Finally, there¡¦s nothing wrong with threads like these. It’s refreshing to hear original or unconventional viewpoints. And yes, it does feel good to get it off one’s chest.

I¡¦ve had a rather tumultuous upbringing, can you tell?

Last time I checked rocket boy this thread was titled “unpopular or unorthodox views you hold”.

Which one of those words didn’t you get?

Unpopular or Unorthodox? Jackass.

And last time I checked, this is the Pit, and if I want to say that your views are FUBAR, I can.

Oh, I’m not criticizing your choice of thread. Your views are, in fact, unpopular* and unorthodox, and if you had to express them somewhere, you picked a perfectly appropriate place to do so.

No argument there.

*at least, they’re unpopular and unorthodox in the context of the SDMB. Sadly, they might be somewhat less so in the world as a whole.

  • I believe Christmas would be a whole lot more fun if we gave the kids money on Christmas eve, send them to the mall, and on Christmas show us what they bought themselves.

  • I believe that anti-drug and anti-smoking campaigns are a waste of money. Some parts of the underculture cannot be changed.

  • If baseball continues to show World Series games that end at 1 am, then it will lose its future fan base.

  • I believe it is no accident that you never saw Nancy Reagan drink water while Ron was talking.

  • I would have more faith in Congress if it could decide which diseases to research cures for without the testimony from celebrities.

  • The college football polls and the BCS rate SEC and Big 12 teams WAY too high.

  • People that watch Oprah and Rosie and Jerry Springer and Jenny Jones every day should not be allowed to vote.

  • 99.99999% of women look like shit when they go bare legged with skirts and dresses. Painting toenails does not make cellulite and varicose veins invisible.

  • As long as one person with Jewish blood is alive, Arafat will be unsatisfied.

Oh, another one: Schools that have had school shootings should have to pay reparations to students that have been screwed over by the insane “zero tolerance” policy put in place by schools across the country.

\

Racist views are going to get called out-- welcome to the Pit. I suspect you will be here alot.

As said many times, SDMB is about fighting ignorance, not patting it on the head.

Get over your issues already.

The smokers, not the tax payers, should be forced to pay for the medical treatment they receive that was induced by their smoking.

Shocking grammar.

Smokers should have to pay for the medical treatment they receive for smoking related illnesses, not the tax payer.
