Which movies do you think cannot or should not have sequels made? My co-workers and I all thought Independence Day shouldn’t have a sequel made after it. Other movies I think are best left alone are Rain Man and Falling Down (any movie in which the main chracter dies at the end would qualify, sorry for the mini unboxed spoiler). Also, I think we can all agree that Titanic would not be served well to have a sequel.
Farenheit 9/11, Fight Club, Brazil, Pixote, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, Car Wash and Citizen Kane. almost any bio-pic. I think a follow-up movie to Clerks is a terrible idea and hope there are no more 1980s “Versus” amalgamated franchises in the works, a la Alien ves. Predator and Freddy vs. Jason. What’s next? Ash versus Indiana Jones?
Well, they DID do “The Wiz”. But that aside, there was a whole series of Oz books. Frank Baum wrote 14 of them, and after his death Ruth Plumley Thompson wrote 19 more. I’m actually surprised that there wasn’t an entire series of films done.
Once the groaning stops, I once read that there were people who thought that Titanic should have a sequel. I wonder how they would do that. They show Kate Winslet's character living her life after the wreck, every now and then they cut to a shot of Leo's character on the bottom of the ocean, being eaten by fishies!
The Wiz isn’t a sequel. It’s an ethnically themed remake, like those colorblind casted multicultural Shakespearian plays or Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex plays transfigured into a gospel extravaganza.
Well, IMO, not even the first Independence Day should have been made.
I think it’d be hard to do a sequel to “the Shining” or “Apocalipse Now.” It’d be pretty hard to do a sequel to “Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid” or “Easy Rider”.
I was told once that there is a sequel to “the Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Though I’ve never seen any credible info on it. Anyone know about this?
