I was watching Tron a while ago, and it hit me: Part of the reason I like it is because it looks like a 1920s Art Deco film. It’s a combination of the blue neon lighting, the extremely desaturated colors, and the stylized design aesthetic. The 1980s were the 1920s with computers anyway, but a stylistic remake of Metropolis? Amazing. (Tron is the petty bourgeois whereas Metropolis is the proletariat.)
