Unusual type of border face off at indo-china border

Video link

I have never seen jostling happen between two heavily armed platoons.

Competition between superorganisms.

Changed the title as you asked.

Sino -Indian is the usual adjective . Indo-China may refer to other south east Asian countries .

Let’s be thankful that nobody resorted to gunfire .

Thank you!

Yes, Sino -Indian should be preferred. Yes, be thankful for no gunfire but Chinese displayed some pettiness in the incident.

The knowledge of geography as evidenced by the Times of India caption writer leaves something to be desired. “Near Taiwan?” Perhaps they meant “near Tibet.”
Roddy

Yeah, if this was near the common Indo-Chinese-Taiwanese border, I’d say that the Indians had done some major incursioning in the past.

Its Tawang, in Arunachal Pradesh. Tibet border. Writing ‘Taiwan’ there is their mistake.

Unfortunately the northeast corner of the country is off the radar for many Indians . Also spellcheck .

Very right. That’s unfortunate. You posts suggest that you have some Indian connection, is it true?

That’s very unfortunate. All they wanted was a decent cuppa tea!

Yes. Live in the northeast. Been to Tawang twice

Which was why they invaded India in 1962::smiley:

thats awesome!! what are the odds that of an Indian, who starts a thread on a American board on north-east India, getting replies from another Indian from north-east India itself?
may I ask which state?

Assam , where the tea comes from.

I’ve also lived in Meghalaya , in Shillong to be precise . Visited Nagaland , Manipur , Arunachal and Sikkim.

The footage is really poor and I’m not Indian or Chinese so there may be cultural misunderstandings but in a lot of that footage it looks like the soldiers are playfully rough-housing with each other than any particularly charged and tense confrontation, look at the smiles on some of their faces.

The newscaster seems to be talking it up as more dramatic than it actually was.

It’s like something out of Monty Python.

It’s like the international border version of a baseball fight. Lots of face-saving.
