Up bright and blurfy in the MMP

Mel let me down. I woke to pee and now here I am. It’s 2:30, dammit! Hope sleepies return soon…

I hope sleepies visit me soon too. I hate this. If this is old age, I did not sign up for this!!! Did not, did not, did not.

I was going to get on and tell everybody how many loads of wash I had done and the acres of lawn I’d mowed with a push mower and how many pints of rose hip jelly I’d canned and say good morning!

Just to see if anyone would say “Boo, is that you? This doesn’t sound like you?”

Now my surprise is ruined. Despair. I’m used to despair…and not sleeping. Off to join Mel.

Good night. Sleep tight or Good Morning. Whichever works.

Boo

It’s gonna be a weird, probably rocky coupla days.

wow apparently i’m the only night owl? i got used to not sleeping as a kid and most of the time i don’t fall asleep until 5 am or so (if i even fell asleep .that day or two) …

It’s not a problem … unless you have obligations (like a job) that require functionality between X and Y times. Which are often disagreeably inconvenient, involving stretches like 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. or some similar nonsense.

purple who in Ye Olden Times of Hunter-Gather’ing would definitely have drawn the “almost dawn” watch time. Somebody gotta look out for lions and such.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear (the moon is bright!), with a predicted high of 97 and mostly N.O.S. with a heat index of a bazillion. Not a whole lot on the agenda for the day. I do foresee some quality cee-mint pond time. September in these parts is just pretty much Summer part two. Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

I am an early riser. I pretty much always have been. Must be genetic as my folks were and so are all my sibs. Stayin’ up ‘til ten p.m. is a late night for me. Also, no frostin’ on brownies and no sugar in cornbread. Some things are just wrong and not up for debate.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers and happy Thorsday! A little bit more normality has been resumed here, I went to the pub with my Wednesday night friends yesterday  We haven’t done that since March, largely due to Covid but also because one half of the couple has had bowel cancer surgery and was either recovering from that or self-isolating ahead of surgery for an ileostomy reversal operation. All done now, he’s fighting fit and happy to be out and about again.

Thus we resumed normal activities and went to a pub we’ve been to many times before. It’s now under new management and was pretty empty, there must have been half a dozen of us in there at the most. But it was good to catch up.

shoe that is one cute kitty!

That didn’t last long. Someone forgot that he was supposed to check before opening the bedroom door. Ziva is back under the bed. Dammit. Oh well - once the kids move out, she should be less timid. I hope.

And the cherry on the crap cake - Higgs peed on the carpet. She hasn’t done that in eons, and she’s been out twice this morning, but she held it. Stoopit dog.

I think today I’ll scrub the front door and inside the frame. Daughter is done with her trim paint so we’ll buy the remaining half gallon or so and I’ll use it on the inside of the door and inside the frame. We’ll pick out a color for the exterior of the doors and get it when we pick up the molding at Lowe’s.

Here’s hoping it gets better. I don’t want to deal with a day that gets worse.

Yeahm yeah, Happy Thursday. :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Thorsday!

Another humid rainy morning, but the sun is peeking through the clouds, so maybe not so wet today.

Slow day at the dog park, although our newest friend, Ziggy, the corgi puppy showed up. He likes to play with the big dogs.

Ripple is still exhausted from yesterday. Dog park and daycare in the same day is too much for him. Echo is like the Energizer Bunny. I was worried that he was sick when I picked him up last evening. Not sick, just worn out.

Everything up here opens tomorrow, so I expect that traffic will be happening. Joy and Happiness there.

So many cute fur babies in our group!
WetOne, I love black cats, but Adam chose me.

I hope the fence guy shows up today. I didn’t even hear from him yesterday.

I like brownies, with or without icing, either way is fine with me.

I’m more of a morning person, although I had a hell of a time getting up this morning. Weird dreams all night long. I think Ripple would have been happy to sleep in too, but not Echo. Echo never sleeps in, for her every day is a new day and what joy will it bring? Ain’t normal to be that damned happy all the time.

So today, I have to figure out what is going on with the fence. I have to call da jungle, again, because something is wrong with my jungle credit card. I don’t know what the problem is.
I have to call my mother. She had an account for my son, she started one for all of her grandchildren, and she had to give it to him this year as he turned 25. I got a notice that there was some activity on the account and I need to make sure it was something she did.
A friend may need a ride to the doctor today, not for her but she is letting her sort of MIL use her car to go to the doctor and it’s very likely her SoMIL sill be admitted to the hospital. She’ll need me to take her to pick up her car.
We need to send in our forms to vote by mail this year. Although I suppose we could go in person this year. I’ll think about it.
I still need to find out how my pay is being calculated. I started to work on it yesterday and then got distracted by something else.
That along with finishing laundry, and testing out my new steam cleaner. My son tried it and wasn’t too impressed. I also got my industrial strength cleaning vinegar yesterday and want to see if it will take care of the black stuff around the top of bathtub. My tub and wall are one piece, but there is a groove around the top of the tub. I guess it’s mold growing in there and nothing seems to get it out.

My son made some cornbread this morning, so that was breakfast.

Fence guy just got here, I hope he finishes today.

Morning all. Up at 7:30 and weather looks good for my first soccer practice of the fall…of course, that’s nine hours from now so the tunder-boomers still have a chance to foil my plans…

Otherwise some general housecleaning and maybe a load or two of laundry is on the agenda.

All y’all take care.

Completely agree with this. Though contrary to the above, I really, really do love my brownies with a chocolate ganache - not a thick layer or it’s too much. Maybe some vanilla ice cream. Well, guess I know what I’ll be making for the holiday weekend.

It’s sunny here at last and wonderful, though we had a swarm of cicadas last night flying through the trees; I’m hoping they’re going to hang out on their own for a while before they make an encore appearance tonight so I can chill on the back porch between meetings. I didn’t think it was the year for them, though I wonder if they come up in localized batches? It’s so bad as it was one year when you could hear the roar of cicadas even going 70 on the highway and they crawled down your shirt when you went on a walk. That was the summer that you couldn’t take a step without crunching and squishing on their bodies and we swept the porch twice a day to remove their tiny corpses. I’d never seen anything like that in my life.

Anywho, coffee has been drunk, kids are up and online schooling. Husband is downstairs working and I’m up here alternately working and pretending to work. Lifting weights during lunch later & visiting my mom this evening with the kids in tow - I’m so relieved she’s here. I miss her house terribly - the smell, the feel of waking up in my childhood home spread-eagled on my owned bed and just being there all day when I visited - but thank goodness she’s not by herself all the time like she used to be.

All done now, he’s fighting fit and happy to be out and about again.

[/quote]Glad to hear he’s doing so well and you got to hoist a few at a congenial place. Repeat as needed.

Do all the Mumpers get to chime in on door paint colors like we do new pet names? New door colors are pretty important. We’ll need a picture of the front to figure out the ambience we’re going for.

Hope the vinegar works. I hate black stuff. I always try hydrogen peroxide and if that doesn’t work, a fairly strong bleach solution. I’m an odd one, who always manages to ruin whatever clothes I’m wearing when I use bleach so I only use it when I’m wearing just underwear. Kind of precludes using bleach on the front porch. I’m managing there since my porch is in full sun most of the day. If I did the bleach and underwear gig on the front porch I would no doubt get a ‘public nuisance’ citation. I have that kind of a next door neighbor.

Sounds good. Maybe with some of that brownie chocolate ganache on top next time?

Exodus 10:15…For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they ate every herb of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. So there remained nothing green on the trees or on the plants of the field throughout all the land of Egypt.

They’re bad here too (North Central midwest, west of the Missouri River). Supposedly they haven’t been a problem since 2016. Not fair we have to have a plague and a swarm of locusts in the same year. Let’s hope both are for just a year.

Glad your mom is there. I don’t know what I’d do without one of my kids near by and I never want to find out (my 2 sons are each a thousand miles away in opposite directions so it will be a while before I see them). I’m glad another mom like me has you and grandkidlets near her.

Time to think about a bagel and cream cheese. My slight headache is better (whopping dose of Tylenol and a mug of coffee) so my outlook has improved.

Good morning all (or afternoon if you’re heading back out to the pub).

Boo

We spent almost 90 minutes at the playground and Roxy played with a couple of kids there, so that was nice. She’s been fed and I put her down for a nap, tho I heard some singing and chattering from her room. I’m sure she’ll crash soon.

I’ve been checking out the doors prior to painting them. We’ll take them down and I’ll scrub with TSP and steel wool them to make rough the surface. According to my research, I need to use an oil based primer before painting - I’ll talk to someone at the paint store to be sure. In any case, I’ll lose use of the garage for about a week while doing this. Luckily our storm doors have a sturdy lock, plus this is a super-safe neighborhood anyway. So fun ahead!

SIL is loading more of their stuff in the truck - they’re planning to sleep there tomorrow night. Prepare to happy dance!

My Mom used to make brownies with a thin layer of marshmallow cream on top and a thin layer of chocolate ganache on top of that. I have no idea how she did that, and I can’t ask her now. To be honest, she was just a so-so cook, but if it involved chocolate, she was a superstar.

Shoe, your ratties look like miniature possums. Not that that’s a bad thing.

Today I need to mow and get some more stuff out of the basement. I should get to it soon. It’s 71F right now but it’s supposed to get to 99F today.

Happy Thorsday!

The first image that popped into my head was: why would two adults and a kid sleep in a truck? when the Fairy Chat B & B was right there?

:head slap: :mine:

Boo.

So we were short shorters, so they sent people home. :grimacing: And were short loaders. And they shut off the belt before all the packages were run. Oooooo.

Did she write "Transmogrifier on the side?

"When you stare into the Abyss, sometimes the Abyss stares back. Sometimes the Abyss wants noms.

shoe, pretty kittah! And rats. And Pretzel(I didn’t know you could walk snakes.). And I sent you a freind request, “Christopher Clark”, so you don’t think I’m some random weirdo. I’m a specific weirdo.

Went down to Wal-Mart and picked up my new glasses. Got 2 pairs (one reasonably priced for daily use and some $9.99 frames in case I break this set. Will turn in my old glasses next time I’m at Wal-Mart, they have a donation can for the Lion’s Club with re-purposes them.

Then picked up 4 more 12-packs of Pepsi (hey, when it’s $12 for 4 packs, or 0.25 a can, that’s just to cheap for me to pass. It can sit in my house just as well as the store. Also got some gallon freezer bags, not for food storage but to put soccer stuff (goalie gloves, extra shinguards, medical bag) in. That leaves the big bag for balls and cones. 3 hours until practice and so far the weather looks cooperative.

It’s 91F, feels like 104F (sez the weather folks), so I don’t see me running around a whole lot tonight. Kids may have some excess energy to burn, however…

All y’all take care.

I think I missed your FB info. I can PM you mine if that’s easiest.

Hey? Ok if I try to FB friend you to? It will come from CJ Z.

Ignore it if you’d rather not. Warning though, I have a Siamese cat and she claws to kill if I’m crossed.

Boo

I woke up this morning feeling a little down…not a lot, just the kind that makes me feel like I should be making hash marks on the wall to count how many days I’ve been in solitary confinement. It’s a warm, sunny day, and lupus is sniffing around my joints, so no walk today. I guess I’ll pace my cell–I mean apartment, my apartment.

wordy and bumba, thanks for the company. I like brownies without frosting, too, if they’re moist and fudgy enough, like Julia Child’s famous recipe. See how inclusive I am? I’m also OK with brownies without nuts, though I think toasted pecans or even plain walnuts are a great addition.

Boo, I thought they were sleeping in the truck at first, too, so please reach over and smack my head, too. I also thought doggio and coworkers were wearing short-shorts at work and got sent home for it.

MetalMouse, congrats on the new specs.
