happy dance
And we’re not anonymousies! My name is Nava! Or Cora. Or Mommy Alana. Or what my National ID says, or what my driver’s license says, or what my Spanish SS card says, or what a birth certificate would say, because the Spanish guvmint doesn’t have room for my whole name in most of their computers and abbreviates it several different ways…
Awesome.
Thanks for the update.
Mr Shoe! Glad you’re home and progressing, that is wonderful news.
And Miz Purple, you’ve had to deal with so much and still do … I am in awe of your strength and resiliance.
Best wishes to you both. With the support of this community may you keep on keeping on, and thrive, and grow.
Spring is just around the corner for us all and especially for you. There’s good things in every blessed day.
Thank you for sharing this journey with us.
So glad to hear this. Life needs to get easier for both of you about now; you have paid some dues for sure.
Great to hear this good news. Here’s hoping his progress continues in leaps and bounds.
Runs around tossing glitter while doing a happy dance.
Happy dances from Canada too
And thrilled to move **flatlined **along!
This is the best news I’ve had today!
Much appreciated - he forgets sometimes that he’s “lost” half a year. We were cleaning out the back of the fridge and I held up a jar of pickles he’d made last summer during cucumber season. He was all, “Oh, those are still fine, they’re not that old … oh. Yeah, I guess they can be tossed.”
Many of his old co-workers have moved on to other jobs during his absence. He was really looking forward to going back to work - still is, in fact - but is feeling some trepidation at working with all these new kids instead of his buddies who know his story. Anyone wanna hire a crippled dude?
Oh, my.
Woot! Great news!
thanks for the update! This is great. The wife and I are both so happy for you!:D:):D:)
Hoody hoo, Shoes!!!
Shoe has been living with his recovery long enough to start noticing more subtle ways that he was affected by the West Nile virus. Specifically, his memory: his recall is still very accurate, but his sense of time of when the memory happened is … elastic? I’m not sure how to put it.
Anyway, here’s a piece of much better news: we were sitting next to each other on the couch watching TV when he casually said, “I put my foot on the coffee table.” Me =
Our coffee table* has two levels: the main one where you set down your coffee mug or whatever, and a lower level an inch or two off the floor, for miscellaneous accessories like remotes, coasters, Wii controller etc. Sure enough, as we were sitting there, he had quietly lifted his right foot (the “bad” one) up off the floor and onto the lower level without using his hands to assist. He hasn’t been able to do anything like that since coming home – he’ll try and try and that foot just sits there like a bump on a log, frustrating him with its immobility.
Now he can move it, just a little!
I was super-excited, gave him a big hug & kiss, etc. Then, a few days later at his next PT appntmnt. he didn’t even have to point out his progress – the PT noticed herself and even called one of the other therapists over to see. She had seen him just the Thursday before** and could tell there was a big improvement.
- which HE MADE HIMSELF back in college, out of cherry and walnut. It was a class project that made a seamless transition into our household possessions. It’s also lovely. </stealth brag>
** that’s actually when he pointed out the memory/time thing: he had been sort of that their last appntmnt. had just been the Thursday before…
Woohoo!!! :):):):):):):):):):):)

I missed this thread opening, but I’m here now. We must all raise a glass to the Shoes!
I think I missed this last time through. So I’m getting a double dose of good news.
This is so very good to hear. I suspect and hope that the improvements may come quicker now. You both certainly deserve that.
A tiny bit of good news is always good.
Especially in situations like yours.
It is good to hear that he is continuing to improve.
very glad to hear it!!
