Updating my earlier thread about my cardiac event of 4/17 because some people in the thread expressed curiosity about the diagnosis.
Had my first appointment with the cardiologist today. I had a few followups with the cardiology clinic but they were mainly to monitor my meds.
So, the cardiologist thinks I’m doing great, cleared me to go back to work with no restrictions, is keeping my current medication as is. My next appointment is in September.
He said a certain percentage of events like mine can not be easily linked to a specific cause. He used some medical term but I don’t remember what it was. He suspects it was a virus of some kind that disrupted my heart. There is a history of CHF in my family and that may be it, or part of it… maybe not. I’m planning to stick with my new healthier lifestyle just to play it safe. I rode my bicycle to the appointment, on a very windy day and up some big hills, and my BP was in normal range when I got there. He seemed to not think blockage of my arteries was a problem.
All in all…went pretty well.
Was the term idiopathic ?
And, I’m glad you’re doing so much better.
So what is your diagnosis?
Heart muscle disorder, Systolic Congestive Heart Failure NYHA Class 1?
That’s on the paper they gave me today.
It also mentions acute respiratory failure with hypoxia and hypercapnia but I think that refers to the episode that landed me in the ER in April.
Also, Idiopatic is the word he used.
Glad you’re okay, but don’t overdo exercise if you’re not used to it.
Glad you’re doing well!
If ya gotta have heart failure, Class I is the kind to have.
Congrats on not dying or becoming a cardiac cripple.
