I hate Ebay more now.
I opened an ebay store experimentally, to see what I think of it.
Well, their ‘Pre-filled information based on UPC or ISBN’ is fucked, because the information they list from half.com is the UPC, but you can’t plug that in anywhere, and have to go through a bunch of other screens to choose the correct book.
Then you work through something like 4-5 other screens to list each individual item.
If you get sick and can’t go to the post office for a few days, or if you go on vacation or otherwise cannot take orders, you cannot go ‘on vacation’ as with half.com and suspend your inventory. Your only choice is to somehow magically acquire internet access during this time, or SHUT DOWN YOUR STORE. If you shut it down, you start over from scratch, including re-entering all your inventory.
And, since it’s a store, your items will not show up in auction searches on the main page or the search bar on the left side of the page.
And they don’t even offer shopping carts.
And for this, you pay a minimum of 10/month plus .02 per item per month.
Well, screw 'em. I’ll go to half price books, dump the ones they’ll take, send the rest to Goodwill, and get a fraction of my money back in store credit. It’s less aggravation.
