We found our girl! She’s back at home now - with a lot more dirt and stink on her coat, but she’s home!!!
We live on a corner - first house in the subdivision. When she slipped out last Wednesday night, a driver came across her near the road and he picked her up. He took her home - about 10 miles from our house and doesn’t travel the road very often where we put up most of our signs. A friend of his just happened to see one of the signs today and he gave us a call.
When he asked her name over the phone and I heard him say “Gigi, sit. Good girl!” I completely lost it . . . had to hand the phone over to my husband. I knew that we had found our girl.
Hubby is taking both dogs to the vet tomorrow for microchips. Absolutely the best piece of advice I can offer. We never thought we’d lose her - so many people think that. But it definitely happened to us and this past week has been a nightmare.
I wanted to also say that the kindness of strangers has been so completely overwhelming. Here on the Dope and all over our community. Total strangers have given their support and best wishes and WOW! - I just had no idea what an absolutely wonderful, loving, tight knit family animal lovers truly are.
Thanks to everyone for advice and support. Give your sweeties an extra hug and kiss for Gigi tonight.
Yay! I didn’t read your original thread, because I moused over it and saw enough that I knew it would make me cry to read about how your baby was gone.
But I am so happy to hear she’s back now!!! Hooray!
Yay! I am so glad to hear that she has been returned to you safe and sound. Good on her rescuer and his friend. May the karma come back around for them.
We have a “Gigi” too. Her name is actually Emma, but her full name is Emma G. Princess Pea, which is then shortened down to Gigi, or sometimes just G, of course.
Great news! I’m so paranoid about losing my dog (he’s an escape artist) that he is both microchipped and wears a collar with his name and my phone number embroidered on it (pettags.com for those of you interested). He also has a collar for when he visits Grandma and Grandpa and Grandma’s and Grandpa’s summer cottage.
