Could it be… Satan?
…OK, maybe not. But how about RSV?

Seattle cough here cough. Took me about 3 weeks in Feb to get over it, and I still have low grade sniffles and drips. Mrs Gargoyle has had it bad for about 3 weeks and finally convinced the doc to prescribe antibiotics.
Aren’t most upper respiratory infections viral? Antibiotics doesn’t do anything for that.
If you start having weird dreams about an old black lady in Colorado, you might want to start driving.
ETA: And yeah, dealing with this in PA as well. Started about two weeks ago, was off work one day for the worst of it, and it’s better but lingering.
Add Calgary to the list - Dread Pirate Jimbo (my husband) has had what sounds like the same thing - a day of stomach problems, and a low-grade cold that lingers. He also has asthma and allergies, so when he gets phlegmy, he gets PHLEGMY!
I don’t think I’ve had it (fingers crossed, of course) - I had a flu shot in fall, Jim didn’t - just throwing that out there (yes, I know colds and flus are different viruses, but the years I have flu shots I seem to get fewer, milder colds).
I did get a flu shot in November, but this crap still got me.
I had strep throat a couple of weeks ago, haven’t had it since I was a kid. I would be down for a day or two, feel a little better for a day, then be down worse… all in all, it was two weeks. It didn’t go away until I took some antibiotics, and I am ordinarily opposed to taking them at all if I can help it. I have a strong constitution, but it just would NOT go away!
South Texas, checking in. G.I. trouble for a day or two, three weeks ago. Still coughing.
If we need to head for Boulder, NCAR should be easy to defend.
Wow. Same thing here. I went to the Opera House a few weeks ago and noticed the huge number of people coughing when it was quiet. By intermission I had to buy cough drops at the bar. I had to take the next 3 days off work. During those days I was really ill and could barely talk.
I am not really sick now but still have lingering symptoms and am using nasal spray and expectorant every day. Prior to this I haven’t had a cold for too many years to remember.
Friends in health care tell me that there is a lot of it going around. And keep in mind it is Summer/Autumn here.
…it’s gone international…
I’ve been sick with something horrid the last 24 hours. Coughing, sore muscles everywhere, intermittent stomachache, some sneezing and sore throat as well. I’m in New Jersey.
Well, that blows that theory.
Prepare for at least a month. Cough medicine is hard to find now.
I had a flu shot too. This is probably not the flu.
The last week in February I caught some bug that started out with a sore throat, mid-grade (~100-102) fever, and body aches/headache. This lasted for a couple of days. On the tail end of it I started to get several drainage and chest congestion, and actually missed work for almost a week due to severe coughing (the only thing that deterred the cough during that time was a combination of Benadryl and prescription Codeine syrup).
After a week of coughing hell my doctor put me on an antibitotic regimen, although I honestly can’t tell if it worked as I still had an intermittent cough for another week (although not as bad as before), and I still feel some drainage today. Initially the doctor told me it was most likely viral, and given that the antibiotic didn’t seem to significantly improve my cough, I’m thinking it was as well. I don’t think it’s the full-fledged flu, though, just some crap virus that everyone is passing around (my dad and several people where I work had it too).
I think you pretty much just have to ride it out, miserable as it is. I hate having to take antibiotics and now I’m pissed because not only did they not make the cough go away right away, now my digestion is screwed up as well. If you are really having problems with cough, ask your doctor about the prescription cough medicine if you can tolerate it. She told me that if your cough is severe enough, it’s really the only thing that will soothe it, Robitussin is a little too weak. I’m also in North Carolina. We take our phlegm seriously here, we have so much of it
It does not feel like the flu. It seems as if it is a bad cold with a cough and phlegm. I am still able to walk the dogs and play racketball. But I wish my lungs were sending air up instead of phlegm.
