Upscaling Mcdonald's

I know a woman who went to China several years ago to adopt two children from there (and their family is in the process of adopting a third). She’s a staunch vegetarian, and lived on Pizza Hut while they were there because that was the only way she could guarantee that she would not be eating meat.

While I worked with her, I didn’t have the heart or guts to tell her that the Yoplait yogurt she regularly packed in her lunch contains gelatin.

When I was a kid, so nearly 40 years ago, McDonald’s tried this thing where they would have waiter service, table cloths and flowers on the table and, best of all, live entertainment during the evening hours. It was advertised all over tv but I never saw one in action. They called it The Big Mac Supper Club.

A Google search tells me that this was just a Los Angeles area thing and was only done for three weeks in 1976. I can’t believe I remember it but I can still sing the jingle.

They might have something like Next at Mac’s HQ, but I haven’t been in there for decades, going instead to the drivethru across the parking lot. I’ll ask if any coworkers have been in it lately. Last I heard they still served beer and wine.

Wendy’s serves salads that are surprisingly good. Admittedly, I skip the dressing.
Interestingly, their website manages to make them look quite a bit less appetizing than they are: https://www.wendys.com/en-us/salads

Old review:

I’ve had both the apple chicken and the Asian chicken. Tasty, healthy and reasonably cheap.
