Urbi Jaun says fix itchy feet

Ok, all seriousness aside. My feet were itching like crazy… started in the middle and was very irritating… so much so I itched through the skin and it hurt when I walked.
so…
I tried tinactin, and other things which helped a little but very costly…
even over a period of time nothing…

then…
I had heard eating garlic clove buds work good for minor infections. I tried eating a 1/2 bud of garlic in the evening… I tried this each evening and it helped…somewhat.

but also!..I tried pouring gargle wash, listerine into the tub when I took a shower as I left the shower and scouring my feet in it…
that helped a little. and with the garlick somewhat better. but!.

the greatest relief came from using the sample bottles of schmirnoff and giving my feet a nice schmirnoff rub with the vodka… the vodka bottles are 1.00 each… notwithstanding the temptation to down the treatment instead of the rub.

Altogether, here’s what works… eat 1/2 bud of garlic in the evening raw or cut up and blended in tea, and when the feet itch take the vodka and give yourself a vodka foot rub., or better yet, have another person join you and give each other the foot rub with vodka.

Your happy monkey…

there are good scientific reasons for this, you can judge for yourself.
life can be fun.

The garlic is incidental. The vodka’s killing off whatever bacteria or fungus is growing on your foot and making it itch. Using a cream designed for the purpose of killing such things will likely be better over the long run, given what alcohol does to skin.

I beg to differ. Garlic has been shown (not just by traditional use, but by scientific studies) to have antifungal properties, specifically against Candida albicans and Tinea pedis.

I’ve always used Absorbine Jr. for when I get athletes foot. It used to be one of the suggested uses on the side of the bottle.

I’ve heard itchy feet can be a sign of diabetes.

Are you sure those were garlic buds?

OTC treatments like Tinactin should have a pretty dramatic effect on the problem, not “helped a little” (admittedly, if you don’t use them for long enough you might have a rebound situation).

If your feet are this itchy and aren’t responding to normal over-the-counter treatments, PLEASE see a doctor. There are other possible causes; while I don’t know about diabetes (truly don’t know, it may well be an issue) there are certainly others like liver problems.

In the meantime, there are a lot of environmental things you can do to help if it does happen to be fungal. Common sense stuff like keeping your feet clean and dry, changing socks and shoes frequently, wearing sandals if you can to let the air and sun get to them, spray the shower (and bathroom floor) with Lysol or other disinfectant…
