Urgent question about a problem with a Xerox Phaser 3200 MFP fax machine

HELP!!! CRAP!!!

The damned machine has gone into “safe receive” mode (apparently on it’s own, as no one here seems to have asked it to… ). And now it wants a pass code to get it to print faxes again, and we don’t have one. Duh.

Anybody run into this before? How did you get out?

The 3200 manual doesn’t say anything about “safe receive mode,” but the default code for manual receiving is 9 (“star-nine-star”).

OK, you’re in “secure receiving mode”; if it was turned on accidentally, there should be no password, so you just need to turn it off (the mode, not the fax machine).

of my xerox 3200 mfp fax machine. i followed that steps you said, and tried to enter 9 but no luck. tells me invalid password. is there a way for me to reset this fax machine passcode? it is saying ready to fax secure receive. i got it from a yard sale. everything else works fine, even sending faxes out.please help

:smack:

9 won’t work as a password in any case. If you tried the LONG procedure above, without entering a password at all, and were unable to get in, you can try resetting the memory.

THIS WILL PROBABLY ERASE YOUR STORED FAXES

  1. Press Menu on the control panel until “Maintenance” appears on the top line of the display.

  2. Press the scroll button (< or >) until you see “Clear Memory” on the bottom line and press Enter.
The first available menu item, “All Settings”, displays on the bottom line.

  3. Press the scroll button (< or >) until you see the item you want to clear. This would be “Advanced Fax.”

  4. Press Enter. The selected memory is cleared and the display asks you to continue clearing the next item.

  5. To clear another item, repeat steps 3 and 4.

OR To return to Standby mode, press Stop/Clear.
