Urination & Farting?

I realize this is absolutely rediculous to ask… but my boyfriend swears that it is 98% impossible for him to urinate without passing gas. Apparently it has always happened to him (When he stands to pee) I’ve ventured to guess that it is because his PC muscles are relaxed for urination, and they also assist in controlling the rectum - so if he has any gas it’s going to jump out more easily during urination.

He seems to think that because he didn’t think of this possibility, it is simply not the case. He’s even said he thinks it’s because the bladder is touching the colon from the inside, and upon emptying the bladder, it puts pressure on the colon as it shrinks (hahah), hence pushing out the gas. (This may be possible but i think that’s a fairly dumb explanation)

Does anyone know (technically) why one would be this prone (98% of the time) to farting while peeing (standing up)?? I need an answer so this debate with him will end. :smack:

Just tell him to put a cork in it and move on.

Sung to the tune of Blowin’ in the Wind:

How many sphincters must a man control,
Before you can call him a man?
How many tears fall from his lover’s eye,
‘til he stops scarfing eggs, steak, and beer?
Yes and what did he have for dinner last night,
Is it safe to go in there yet?
The answer my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
the answer is blowin’ in the wind.
sorry

Your boyfriends explanation is just not true. But it is comical.

Your explanation is correct. The same muscle group controls both outputs.

I just farted while reading this, explain that.
