US Dopers - how do you feel about Trump's threats to Canada?

Thank you. Again, please feel free to copy, improve, and send.

Thanks for this. I have borrowed it and sent it to Sens. Schiff and Padilla, as well as my representative, who unfortunately is Rep. Funny how the only website I have problems with is hers

I crafted my own email and may send hard copies next week.

I kept it brief. Explained my dissatisfaction with the reckless government and the harm it is creating here and in the world.

Then explained how it impacts me personally.

Not much more I can do at this point.

I also experienced more of a “wall” to get to the message portion on my Republican representative’s website.

Very well stated, thank you!

Donald Trump is a monster. That’s how I feel about his threats.

Close to 10,000 kg of fentanyl entered the US in one year, I heard, of which 20 kg came from Canada. That’s like less than a quarter of one percent. Donald, you got some ‘splainin’ to do.

As usual, he’s just lying. He needs to say that there’s an emergency of some sort to trigger his power to impose tariffs. So he lies about fentanyl to do so.

The Prime Minister began his remarks yesterday, not by speaking to Canadians, but by speaking to Americans.

Thought you might appreciate a link to his speech and a transcript.

Tonight, first I want to speak directly to Americans. Our closest friends and neighbors. This is a choice that, yes, will harm Canadians. But beyond that, it will have real consequences for you, the American people.

If Trump cared about fentanyl distribution hurting Americans, why did he pardon the founder of Silk Road?

He lies.

Recently out of bed, and with only one cuppa joe in me. I read that as ‘mobster’.

That too. In fact I believe that is what Trump aspires to, to be a feared mob boss.

I am in a similar sate of caffeination and had a good chuckle at this.
Mobster indeed.

All monsters are not mobsters.
But all mobsters are monsters.

DJT recently posted this. Ths is real.

He needs to be impeached!

Trump is of the opinion that nobody needs friends. Friends are for suckers and losers, unless they’re rich friends. All others are to be bullied, mocked and vilified. Threatening Canada is childish and stupid and will only alienate a country that has always had our back. They won’t forget this, and rightly shouldn’t.

A side question: what is with the random capitalizing of words by this idiot?

That’s what I told my House and Senate representatives (before the tariffs).

We don’t need anything they have. - DJ

I have to wonder who is advising Trump. Certainly not economists, and certainly not anyone who understands the differences between light and heavy crude oil (and the refineries that can process them). He appears to have a grade-schooler’s understanding of this.

And even less in relation to trade deficits.

We have stuff that AMerican industries want.

We offer to sell it to them.

American industries pay us fair market value for the stuff.

We buy stuff from US industries at fair market value, but overall, we sell more than we buy.

It’s all at fair market prices, paid by private industries.

That’s not a subsidy.

Or, he could just be lying.

@Aspenglow @Johnny_L.A @WOOKINPANUBv.2 @Ellecram and any of the other US dopers who have written their representatives over this issue - thank you for your support! It is really appreciated!

Strange day in church this morning - the minister made a point of saying ‘This congregation does not support discrimination in any form against the LGTBQ community.’, then in the sermon, told the story of a friend in Georgia who has just been picked up by ICE - the church is doing what they can to help in the situation.

But not a word about Canada, to the point where I said to a fellow choir member that last night had been pretty rough, and he said ‘Oh, that’s too bad. Why?’. I said ‘Well, I got sucked into the news and social media because of the tariff announcements.’, to which he said ‘What tariff announcements?’. Oh, dear…
