Unless her campaign has more debts than cash, Murkowski doesn’t need more money. All the votes are in or maybe in the mail, so that part’s done. It’s just that they won’t do the second round of Ranked Choice Voting until the 23rd (I think). ETA: maybe the 21st.
I don’t think either side is going to “hold back” on spending – there will be plenty of time to raise more of it before 2024. Democrats need to show that they’ll go to the mat for an incumbent Senator in an emerging swing state, Republicans would love to be able to end this cycle pulling out a win that no one expects them to get.
Intuitively I’d agree, but Republicans are going to see this as a zero-sum game. They have an interest in doing what they can to either stop or weaken Democrat legislation. It’s not as useful as a real win, but even it amounts to weakening legislation (watering them down to get Manchin onboard), it might be worth fighting.
On the other hand, maybe it’s not enough to be worthwhile. It’s certainly not worth nearly as much as actually flipping the Senate.
I wonder if Donnie is going to throw a tantrum and trash his daughter’s wedding.
Even with a win in Georgia, the Dems would need one or the other of them to vote.
Fox just called it, I can change the channel back.
ETA: Fox’s decision desk is usually faster than this, I wonder if that has to do with them firing Chris Stirewalt.
I think he’s a bit of a jackass, but I loved his J6 testimony - he was PROUD of being the first to call AZ in 2020, he was gloating about how he had the best sources and analytics.
I hope it gets to 217-217 because Peltola is in great position to win the second round in Alaska. Palin would have to get something like 92% of Begich’s second choice votes to pass her (impossible to ascertain precisely because some of those ballots may exhaust instead of going to one of the others).
That ain’t happening.
Which is better than needing both.
This thread’s already been shut down once over becoming another Manchin/Sinema debate.
It woukd be insane if it all came down to Sara Palin, that might be proof that we’re living in a simulation.
Absolutely!
I agree, they have my undying respect. It is very possible to respect people while disagreeing with their positions, sometimes I need reminded of that.
I am so happy I have water coming out of my eyes.
If I had the booze and antacid concessions for the Republican Party, I could retire.
To be fair to Fox, their “decision desk” was a little slow to catch up with the other networks and call NV for Cortez, but now it’s major breaking news. I’m amusing myself imagining TFG throwing a ketchup-laden hamberder at the TV.
Of course he couldn’t care less about the Republican Party but it’s getting pretty hard to make this look good on him.
Lindsey Graham, election denier:
Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) said on a National Republican Senatorial Committee call this week that a Laxalt loss could only be the product of rigging: “There is no mathematical way Laxalt loses,” Graham said, via Politico. “If he does, then it’s a lie.”
I bet this helps Warnock. Those Republicans who were going to hold their nose and vote for Walker just make sure the Republicans keep the Senate, I have absolutely no reason to go to the polls now.
“Why it matters: Democrats will continue to control the process for confirming judges and executive branch appointees for the remainder of President Biden’s term.”
No class McConnell and his anti-democracy actions are IMPOTENT for 2 more years!
(You all knew this, but I just wanted to put it here "In Print’ for the records, you see.)
Trump is so over. This whole election shows how over him and his sycophants most Americans are.
Will he even bother to run as a Republican? He has zero chance. Zero.
Good point
Just made a small donation to Warnock’s campaign.
