I had to mail a letter yesterday-and was pleased to see that Burroughs has finally been honored by a 1st Class stamp! One of America’s best known authors-at last!
Now if we could only get decent movies versions of the Martian novels!
We just got a decent movie version of the first Martian novel. But it was torpedoed by the head of Disney studios whose watch it wasn’t purchased on, but who couldn’t scuttle it because it was PIXAR’s baby, so he skimped ridiculously on advertising and announced the studio was writing it off after it had been out for a week.
Have you seen the film?
Yes. . . andit was great!
What about a William S. Burroughs stamp?
My thought exactly.
But it would have to come with its own adhesive - I’m not licking one of those things.
Advertising too skimpy. Dejah Thoris costume not skimpy enough.
I liked it but didn’t love it, but I can see how people not fans of the novels would be so-so about it.
Link to PO page on the stamp It came out last year. Not that attractive a stamp. And it looks to me that Tarzan is swinging on the vines, which he pretty much did not do in the books, best as I can remember.
I sent out all our wedding thank yous with those.
Those have been out for several months. I emailed the gal at our library that runs the trivia games, once I saw them, because I thought an ERB category would be cool, for the game. Didn’t happen.
