USA Election Watch 2026

[assuming the early calls all hold and the western states hold their own]

I’m declaring it now. He won’t last past March. Take your pick: illness (25th’ed) or death, enough Goop senators cross over to vote him out, or he just buggers out to Moscow or someplace without even giving us the goddamn common courtesy of a resignation speech.

Can’t you people count votes faster?!, Wednesdays and Thursdays I have to go to the office and for that I have to wake up 6:30 AM, it’s already 12:20! I’m older now and can’t function very well without at least 6 hours of sleep…

Decision Desk has been around since at least 2016, I used to subscribe to them. They’re pretty good, and by good I mean heavy analytics.

Even though it’s like 1994, the Dems need to remember this win isn’t because they offered a vision Americans agreed with, but because the other side was so openly corrupt and incompetent.

Dems need to form their own “Contract With America”, and soon.

Keep this to election day please.

Moderating:

There other threads for such.

Just to wake you up a bit, I’ll tell you I saw your man live two nights ago and he scored an annoyingly fantastic goal.

(now back to cautiously celebrating)

38% in NE, Dan Osborn (I) up by 10%. There is no Democrat in this race, so Osborn is the de facto Dem candidate.

Some may view Papa Smurf as conflicted. I see it differently— the old man is rubbing it in.

“Not far now …”

Are any of the state legislatures also up for election in the blue swinging states? If so then maybe they will flip as well and overturn their US House gerrymanders. That is, if they can get enough over 50% of the state vote to overcome their state house gerrymanders.

Kate Riga at TPM posted that all four Texas Supreme Court seats are leaning D, and the statehouse itself could be a possible flip. Holy crap, that would be historic!

They have right wing ties but I do not think that matters.

My recollection is that on average they call races just a bit earlier than the rest.

Florida held republican control of the state. They lost their super majority in the state congress and senate.

Just saw from the Daily Show:

“Touching: Darlene Graham honors her brother, the late Lindsay Graham, by finishing on bottom.”

NBC has adjusted its House projection upward to 248-187.

Heh, I bet.

The DNC spent a bunch of money on Down ballot races.

Tom Cotton (R) retains AR.

MS Now is prediction235 to something I don’t remember the r number.

The Democrats won both Houses but not with veto-proof majorities.

Go to bed.

My district, MO-02, appears likely to be a flip from Ann Wagner (R) to Fred Wellman (D). I never thought I would see it…

Also it looks like the state is going to reject the abortion ban and the gerrymandered maps the state legislature tried to force through.
