6pm EST. The avalanche has started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.
Isn’t it 5:03 pm EST now?
It is.
I’m guessing maybe they’re referring to exit polls
Maybe they missed the time change?
Yep, I was surprised that “how important is government corruption to you and your vote” came back 90% Very or Somewhat Important, vs 10% Not Really Important.
Since Arizona doesn’t change I forgot to account for the hour difference. Sorry.
In other news, the local theater shows on Tuesday the Tuesday Night Classic. This week’s is Chinatown. I don’t know if there was commentary meant by that or not.
Praying here downunder that sensible (and blue) heads prevail this election.
Good luck folks!
I’m planning on watching the live election coverage on Talking Points Memo (TPM)'s YouTube channel. Their live stream begins at 8pm ET. And of course I’ll be following the thread here.
NPR’s always are. Along with everything else.
Yeah, I’ll be following events here live as well, and I like having the NYT updates, but I was also looking for a live video broadcast that spoke about breaking events and how the votes usually come in (lots of red/blue votes late from certain precincts, etc). I’ll look at the Talking Points Memo broadcast.
Ohio here. Come on Sherrod Brown!![]()
Per CNN - very early (29% reported) in IN-5, and Ford (D) is pulling 64% of the vote, which would be an overperformance.
Galen Druke:
Happy “1% of the vote tallied in Kentucky” for those who celebrate!
Early returns looking great for Democrats. But it’s 1%.
Lakshya Jain says
This is as bad of a start as you could have expected for Republicans. The early ballot drops in Indiana show a double-digit swing towards Democrats from 2024. If there was a tsunami, this is the way it’d start. At 6:24, Victoria Spartz is in real trouble of losing Trump +17 IN-05. We’ll see how it continues, but this might be an ugly night for Republicans if it’s mirrored elsewhere.
(happy dance)
All fingers crossed. And the toes.
Sending power thoughts to Talarico.
My appendages are crossed as well. I remember early in the 2024 thread reports were coming in that the NC governor’s race would go to the Dems which was taken to be indicative of NC and thus the rest of the country shifting blueward, but it was really just John Stein being really popular and outperforming (and, granted, actually winning). Still, it’s certainly better than bad initial news.
This is the worst part of the night when you have two tiny data points and are trying to extrapolate an entire nation out of it.
In about 10 minutes we will likely start getting much more, which will confirm or refute the early signs. Or, perhaps more likely, just muddle it.
