As Gregg Easterbrook would say, the Football Gods will come to take their revenge on Texas in the Rose Bowl for running up the score so badly. Of course, USC also ran up the score against UCLA, so I guess it’s really a question of which team ran up the score more during the season.
Or maybe the Football Gods will cause a great earthquake in Pasadena, with a fissure opening up to swallow both teams. If they’re careful about it, the fissure will just take out the playing field, but it’s possible they’ll just have the fissure swallow Rose Bowl Stadium.
But they didn’t run up the score, that’s the worst part. I really think Texas could have put 100 points up if they’d tried. They didn’t score at all in the fourth quarter.
Haha, thanks. I actually like your poetry. And I couldn’t believe a couple of those calls. Of course, the win was going to be ours, or should I say Reggies Bush’s, without those calls. I agree, next season we won’t be nearly as good, but all our powerhouses will be leaving. Of course. just becuase our football team is leaving doesn’t mean we aren’t a great university. The Viterbi school of engineering, which I am proud to be working on my degree from, is ranked #7 in the nation. Ok, thats the end of my SC bragging. You may return to the SC hating.
Oh my God. Well at least you are a realist Jeevsy. I saw the PUSC at the rally in Westwood. I took it to mean:
PUSC = PUSSY
And the reason why I Trojan hate so much is because my dad loves SC even though none of his family has ever gone there. His son, went to UCLA and was given a free ride, graduating college honors and summa cum laude. He still likes those fuckers. Also, at law school I take shit from the SC grads all the time over football. I actually love Notre Dame football most of all so I can understand my dad in this regard. (Don’t tell the Alumni Association fellow Bruins.) All other sports I love UCLA.
In all actuallity, beating a football team only beats that football team. Not everyone who goes to that school for all time. In other words all the people who think that because their team beats mine that they are better than me on a personal level are fucken lame. They didn’t beat me.
However, I’m glad your going to engineering school Tommy. Good luck. I actually like most SC people personally. The rivalry will continue however.
It was nice to see that Reggie could get 260 yards of rushing against the #115 ranked run defense (based on yards/game) of UCLA. I guess he really is the second coming of Gayle Sayers  (Did they really have to play the same little piece on Bush they played last week? Is there some reason ABC is actively campaigning for Reggie to win the Heisman? Do the producers have money riding on the outcome?)
You mean after he had that game with over 500 yards of total offence? Was that before or after Young went 13/24 for 162 yards and rushed for 19 yards against A & M?
I’m sure Vince Young is a genius, but I’m pretty sure that if Leinart is taking classes like that, it’s because he’s already graduated or fulfilled his degree requirements. Stick to the real complaints.
I don’t have much of a dog in this one, but when you add it to all the other stuff Bush has done, rushing for more than 250 yards each against two top-20 teams - even if one had no run defense at all - is a feat that merits some historic comparisons.
Texas did not run up the score. They replaced their starters after the 1st series in the 3rd Quarter and only threw something like 2 or 3 times in the second half. Colorado just sucked.
USC, however, was going for it on 4th down, left their starters in, and was throwing all over the place. Yea verily they need a smiting from the football gods.
BTW, I’m an Ohio State fan. If I ever here anyone complain about the Big 10 not having a championship game, I’ll just point to the Pac 10 & Big 12 and say “like those?”. At least OSU vs Michigan is a good game.
Pac-10 doesn’t have a championship game. This was just the last game of the season.
I really don’t have a dog in this one either, although I usually root for USC. Let me get this straight though, some of you think that the refs helped USC win yesterday? So if the refs hadn’t helped, the score would’ve been, what, 45-19?
Umm, that’s our home stadium. And I kind of like it, although I’d love to be able to see us play there in January some year.
Yeah, the best thing I can think to say is that now I know how USC basketball fans felt during the John Wooden years. (One year, '72?, they were ranked #3 in the nation but the NCAA’s only allowed the conference champions into the tourney. They had two losses–both to UCLA.) Complete and utter domination.
All we Bruin fans can do is wait for the fall, when it comes it will come hard.
Again, I will be rooting for USC since last year’s championship was “slightly” tarnished because of a questionable slotting of Oklahoma playing against USC last year for the championship instead of some other also-rans like Auburn, Utah and Texas themselves.
