This past weekend, I saw Hero with my three moviesketeer buddies. I’m still a bit confused about the movie, but I have this allergy thing going so I’m all filled up on Benadryl, thus kind of slooooow. The movie was so appealing visually I’m planning on seeing it again while its still in the theatres, since I think it will loose something on the small screen.
Anyway, my best friend Wilds, has a minor in Asian studies. Leaving the movie, we were both convinced that the colors used in the different retellings had to be significant, but as of yet that doesn’t seem to be the case. She dug up this brief list of colors and their meanings:
[ul]
[li]Red = lucky color for hope, vitality, and fertility [/li][li]Blue = harmony, heavenly blessings [/li][li]Green = growth, longevity, harmony [/li][li]Yellow = color of royalty [/li][li]White = death and mourning…but sometimes represents hope and renewal [/li][li]Black = evil, the color of bruises = bodily harm [/li][/ul]
Does anyone have any ideas, or were we thinking too much? (Its been known to happen on occasion.) I read some of the other Hero threads and while the stunning visuals were discussed, I didn’t see anything about the meaning of the colors. (Of course I’m sure I’ll get a reply showing me that I missed a post. )
