Use of Samsung Tablet

My cell phone service was upgraded this week. I got a Samsung smartphone, along with a tablet (with which I am posting this thread). What do most Dopers, at least, who have these tablets, use them for?

Reported for move to IMHO.

And as for your question, I don’t think there is anything that users of Samsung tablets are doing with them that users of iPads, Kindle Fire tablets, Google Nexus tablets, etc. can’t do with them. In other words, I see no reason to confine your question to users of Samsung tablets.

Since the OP is asking about personal experiences, let’s move this to IMHO.

Mostly for consuming content, especially when traveling or in bed. Pretty much anything you’d do, which would take advantage of a bigger display, such as reading or watching movies (or using it as a “catalog” to stream). I also compose some email and spreadsheets on it, along with other light content.

Applications which are optimized for tablets, can also work better with the bigger display size. Many times, I won’t have identical apps installed on my phone and tablet. My Houzz app is outstanding on a tablet, for example.

It’s also a nicer way to share and show people content, and a great way to distract kids.

Reading ebooks (especially from the library), magazines, graphic novels.

Watching videos

Playing some games

Checking email and browsing the web

Some writing, using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse

Showing pictures.

Reading the SDMB, silly!

(okay, it’s an iPad, but same deal)

I use it mainly for web browsing and games. I do some perfunctory email and stuff, but the keyboard isn’t great for that. I haven’t gotten into the habit of reading eBooks yet.

I use my tablet with applications where its larger screen and larger virtual keyboard (compared to my smartphone) come in handy. Mostly…

Games (the larger screen really helps here)

Email (I can easily read my email on either the tablet or the smartphone - but for writing email the tablet’s larger virtual keyboard comes in real handy)

Kindle app (reading books is so much nicer on the larger screen)

Internet access when I’m on the road (because the larger screen really helps)

Oh, and I have to be very careful about pulling out my tablet in front of my granddaughter - because she’s convinced that it exists only so that she can watch YouTube videos of Elmo on it.

I read RSS feeds with Feedly, read books with the Kindle app, browse Reddit with some Reddit app I cannot recall exactly, read magazines with Zinio, watch video from my PC with Plex, play games like Tribez, The Simpsons:Tapped Out and Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff. I also have Netflix on it, but never really use it.

It happens to also be a Samsung tablet, but as has been already mentioned, that’s inconsequential.

I should mention that 99 percent of time I use it in bed before I go to sleep.

I use mine for everything sevenwood does and as my GPS unit when traveling (it frees up the phone for other things). It is also my primary source of internet. If I need a full keyboard, monitor, printer, etc, I tether it to my desktop.

Reading on Kindle (especially textbooks and PDFs that won’t fit on a real Kindle), Netflix, Reddit, Tapatalk (for the SDMB), and porn.

If you have one of those fancy Samsung ones with a drawing pen, it’s always really great for sketching things or playing Pictionary clones online.

Hay Day. Way too much Hay Day.
