A friend of mine who owns a small store would like to hook up a web cam both at his home and at the store so he can talk to the employees there through it and monitor the store when he isn’t there. He has a Mac at home and a few PC’s at the store, and both ends have DSL connections. Is there a way to hook up the web cams for monitoring?
I don’t know of any software specifically for that, but there’s a mac client for VNC. He could use that to take remote control of the store PC. It would allow him to use the webcam and communicate with anyone sitting at the PC. It’s free and is supposed to work well.
Most new Logitech Cams come with monitoring software.
Thanks. I’ll look into the Logitech cams.
Okay, I did that… but the only Mac-compatible camera they have doesn’t have video monitoring support for the Mac. Any other companies?
