USS Abraham Lincoln

Diego Garcia has been attacked as well, although the US said one missile failed and one was intercepted while Iran said “wasn’t us”. From the picture in the linked article, it doesn’t look like the easiest target to hit but then again it doesn’t look like the easiest place to defend either:

If the Navy has a garbage scow, it should be the USS Trump. That I would accept.

Garbage scows, like custodial staff, perform a necessary job nobody wants to do.

It’s insulting to suggest naming a vessel that performs an honorable, if unpleasant, task for actual garbage that doesn’t do any work at all.

if they had some rusted out hunk of junk whose only purpose was target practice for better vessels, that, maybe, I could see naming for him.

Right. I get it. In the end nothing should be named after him. I can’t think of anything low enough to represent him.

I can. The contents of the sanitary (i.e. wastewater) tanks on a vessel. “Shitter’s full! Time to pump out the Trump!”

It fits him perfectly, figuratively and literally.

I mean … even the “Port-A-Trump” has a nice ring to it.

Think of it: rows of them at stadiums, construction sites, events, campgrounds, street fairs, farmers’ markets, and the like, all gleaming in blue (or maybe repainted to match his face) with those nice white sun-repelling lids (or maybe repainted to match his hair) – slowly, steadily, and predictably getting ever-more full of shit.

No offense, @enipla , but it feels like your heart just wasn’t totally in this one

Maybe even paint 'em gold, since he seems to like that

I mean …

Google Photos

Needs to be more orange. Perhaps the top should be some sort of ‘gold’ or whatever his hair is.

And the model should be #8647

I didn’t mean to say that the Trump should be hauling garbage, I meant to say that it should be hauled away as garbage!

Why not both?

At some point in his life, he should put in an actual single day of actual work, which still isn’t anywhere close to what he’s made these sailors do

Don’t do it, Scotty!

The problem is, he’s not smart enough to run a broom.

It’s working now, and lists 14 names. So, yes, if there’s someone else who died and isn’t on that list, their family would be raising a big stink.

That should be 18.

There was a stink last month when they tried to use 14 deaths as “the” number of deaths and was forced to admit to 4 additional ones that they’re trying to sweep up under “overseas operations” since they occurred during a “ceasefire”.

Okay, then yes, the number is ~18. There’s no way to discretely exclude a death from a published list that’s purported to include every death.

On the other hand, if, hypothetically, they claimed 20 deaths, but didn’t list them, then the true number could easily be hundreds, because it would only be falsified by some reporter tracking down more than 20 deaths on their own.

Not just the films. In TNG Piccard’s day room had stainless steel half models of all the steam-powered (1874 sloop of war on) Enterprises on a wall. CVN-80 of course, was not among them.

Well that proves it! It’s an alternate timeline!

(note: I hate alternate timeline story crutches FY JJ Abrams.)
