vacation slide viewer thingy

OK, I want to take what are commonly known as telescope pictures. They are half frame slide photos viewed through a plastic thing containing a lens and somewhat shaped like an elongated pyramid. I tried to look up a supplier on google and all I got were hubble references. Any idea of what I should really search for? Also, anyone have a recommendation of a half frame camera? This would be solely for personal use, I am not starting a business.

First, sorry about the double post.

I have found some half frame camera’s but they are rangefinders, without a built in lightmeter. The one I just saw at the beach was definately an SLR with the manual throw film advance. Didn’t catch the brand. I also know they used to use Argus C-3’s, one of which I own. Is there an adaptor kit available for this that allows half frame slides?

Try ViewFinder or View Finder. Also, stereopticon.

Years back Olympus made several “half frame”, or “single frame” if you prefer, cameras. Both rangefinder and SLR models. I used to have an Olympus Pen “F” SLR that was a nice camera.

You’re not talking about Stereo slides here, but the viewers similar to waht are often sold a souviners at tourist spots such as Niagra Falls and such, right.

I think this is what you’re looking for: http://porterscamerastore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=52-0058&Category_Code=S1E

Have fun!

Just reread my link and these take full sized 35mm slides. Now you don’t have to buy a new camera!

Thanks for the advice. Yes, they do take full size, but that might be OK. On the other hand, I like cameras so will check on the Olympus Pen.
