I’ve remembered something else … it might have been in 4/4 time (or 3/4)
It was by that one person or group that used to be really popular, then wasn’t, then made that song which had a sort of a country flavor to it, but got played on some rock stations, and led to him/her/them getting a couple of guest shots on TV, but then faded away again.
OHHH you’re talking about that one crossover song that was on the charts for a while…then it FELL OFF the charts eventually. Yeah, it definitely didn’t stay there, did it?
Wasn’t that the song where they made that video for it? You know, the one where the band was playing in a dive bar, and some people were dancing? And if I remember correctly, some other people were shooting pool? And the bartender was a smokin hot MILF?
And I’m pretty sure that the song was featured in that one movie that I saw at the drive-in. Or maybe at the mall complex. Or perhaps at the restored Fox Theater downtown.
Didn’t that band have their picture taken in front of a brick wall?
Bumping…
In the hope that maybe some new dopers may be able to throw some light
on the subject.
“Light on the subject” reminds me. Didn’t the cover art for the soundtrack feature really punkish, harsh, stark, black and white photography? And there was a really hot woman posing with the artist, but she wasn’t part of the act.
Too bad. She would have looked really good on the big screen. I wonder what happened to her.
If she’s the same one I’m thinking of, she played the ditzy character on that sitcom about the single women about ten years ago. Or maybe it was that show about the people who went to high school together.
And wasn’t she also on that show where they had all those people that were engaged in the same enterprise? You know, that were doing the same thing?
Was that the one where two or three of them were living in apartments they couldn’t possibly have afforded?
It was the one where she she had this boring boyfriend who worked at that job, and then she met this guy with the hair, and they were total opposites and hated each other at first, but then after that thing that happened they fell in love and she ditched her boyfriend to stay with him. You gotta know which one I mean.
And if I remember correctly, her mother was always meddling in her life, trying to get her to get married and have kids, always much to the consternation and embarrassment of her father.
Yeah the mother was of some ethnicity, Jewish, or Korean, or Hindi, or Norwegian or something like that.
And she also had a younger (or maybe it was older) sister who was married and doing much better in her career that the mother was always comparing her to.
As a matter of fact I think the sister played the ditz in that one movie where one group of guys was going after the other opposing group who were both doing the same kind of thing but the one group could just never seem to succeed. It also starred the same guy who was in all those action, drama, romance, comedy sort of movies all the time back then.
That sounds vaguely familiar. Could you be more specific?
