Just watching Team America on DVD. Whence comes the word “valmorphanize?” Is it simply a jab at all those kooky kids’ shows/action movies that have such cheesy terms for their vehicles’ super jets/etc.? Or does it have some deeper significance?
Val comes from the latin Valere which means alternatively be strong or be worth.
Morph from the greek Morphe which means form
ize is a standard suffix indicating a process of change
so valmorphanize is the process to change fome into something stronger of more worthwhile
Of course, Matt and Trey were trying to merely be funny, and accidentally tapped into some greater truth. They often do that on South Park as well.
