Okay, so I have two small daughters and my wife is fond of the song “Sweetly Sings the Donkey”.
Here are the public domain lyrics in their entirety:
Sweetly sings the donkey at the break of day.
If you do not feed him, this is what he’ll say:
“Hee-haw, hee-haw, hee-haw, hee-haw, hee-haw”.
(I will not try to post the tune…)
Anyway, you can imagine that I tired of singing this song to my little ones after about the 253rd time. So I began to make up alternative lyrics, such as:
Swiftly goes the school bus at the break of day.
If you do not board it, this is what they’ll say:
“You’re late. You’re late. You’re late. You’re late. You’re late.”
