I want to make some soup for a vegetarian (not vegan) friend. What is the tastiest off-the-shelf vegetable/mushroom broth in a can or box? Best brand in general?
I’ve had some onion soup (Wolfgang Puck’s for one, if I’m remembering right) that had no beef broth in them and were very good. That might work…
I will, of course, add plenty of veggies and probably rice, but I wanted to start with a broth base instead of plain water.
I use regular ol’ Swanson’s veggie stock a lot, and for my recipies, it is always just fine.
Although I have not eaten any meat or poultry for many years, (including broth, gelatin etc.), I refuse to pay 3x more for fancy Whole Foods/Wild Oats type “natural” or “all organic” brands that are essentially the same thing as regular brands, just with a different label and a sky-high pricetag.
