We know Venebales is back in jail and obviously there is a publication ban, so just personal theories about what you think he’s up to now.
I’ve read that his mother was very supportive and visited him every Sunday with 3 of his brothers while he was still in the group home. When he was released, his letter to the parole board said that he knows he received a better education than he would have received at home and took a few A levels.
So he was given a new identity and in the almost twenty years has not re-offended what does everyone think he is doing now? I think he might be working behind the scenes, possibly with computers or maybe an accountant
I think we should hope he’s reformed and let him be and leave it at that. I would also point out that any UK Doper who posts actual information risks being in contempt of court.
I hope he has used the time wisely and has done something to seriously improve his life. However, I also think he’s probably working as a PR person for the McCanns.
Jon Venables has been caught twice with child pornography and is back in prison, cite below. Thompson has seemingly stayed out of trouble and its rumored that he is living quietly with his gay lover in the North of England.
I just read the article, though I had already heard about that incident in the past. How many fucking second chances are they going to give Jon Venables? His current prison sentence is three years and four months. The article says “the parole board will decide whether to release him at the end of his sentence”. Huh? He was sentenced to three years and four months…how is it that they will “decide” whether to release him or not? In any case, I think he shouldn’t be released at all, ever.
I don’t know about British law, but maybe it’s something like “guilty but mentally ill” At the end of the sentence, the prisoner is re-evaluated, and if that prisoner is determined to be still a danger to self or others, they are committed to a mental Institution.

Because his sentence for murder was for life, as is the case with all murder convictions in England. The question will therefore be whether he gets released on parole from that earlier sentence again.
