Veronica Mars (season 1 & 2 spoilers)

I’ve never seen either of those shows, so I’m sticking to my original statement with a cavat of “This is really undoubtedly the best ensemble cast on all of TV which I have seen right now”

I’ve never seen Deadwood or The Wire either, because I don’t have HBO. I have seen Battlestar Galactica, which will see your Jason Dohring, et al, and raise you Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Tricia Helfer, James Callis, Grace Park, and another half dozen or so brilliant actors.

That’s not a slam on Veronica Mars at all. I’m just saying that if you like to see great acting, there’s actually a lot out there to choose from.

While I love BSG, I really think Dohrig puts in a better performance. The complexity he brings to the character is unusual on tv.

Do get The Wire on DVD. There’s never been television like it. It takes effort from the viewer but it really, really is the best tv ever.

Ok, I just finished watching s2 thanks to Netflix, and while there were definitely holes in the plot, overall I enjoyed it.

Now, I really think I benefit from having getting two disks at a time so I’ve seen the whole season over three weeks - the holes don’t seem to be as big as some make them out to be, because I was able to easily follow the major plot lines. There were definitely freaky moments in this season - and I do like Logan more and more as things go on. At the same time, I had moments I completely hated him.

I had a completely freaked out moment with the plane explosion in the last episode, but then I thought about it and I knew that it’s coming back this fall, and Keith is a central character and I hadn’t seen anything about that actor not being back, so I figured he wasn’t on the plane.

What caught me more off guard was the deal with Logan’s father. THAT was nothing I expected at all.

Now I have to think about it in general. And I’ll be ready for the next season when it starts.
