I can’t figure out how he gets that much spin on the bat without it flying away from him.
I would so do that at the plate during a game.

Doesn’t look fake at all to me. All he’s doing is letting go of the bat and flicking it, allowing it to spin through 360[sup]o[/sup], then catching it again. I’m sure it takes some practice, and he probably got some bruised knuckles before he perfected it, but i’ll bet that it’s not actually that hard to do once you’ve got the hang of it.
The first time you saw someone spinning a basketball on a finger it might have looked fake too. Same with Woods continually bouncing a golf ball off the club face. These guys are obviously coordinated and they’ve got lots of opportunity to screw around. Combine the two and you get a bat spinning hitter.
Not fake- I think it just looks fake due to a low framerate. One of my coworkers did it at our softball game last week.
I would so wear a cup while practicing that.
Not fake. You can see his hands move in the direction opposite to the swing just before he lets go, which is what causes the spin.
