I came here to suggest the Northwoods Brew Pub in Eau Claire which has ties to Norskes Nook featuring those great pies. They have a better menu, better service, better atmosphere and craft beer. I was to have lunch there tomorrow only to find out that they have moved to Osseo. I am sooo bummed, now I have to figure out where to have lunch tomorrow.
When come back bring pie pan.
How pricey are these pricey pies? I can’t believe how much the pies in Brooklyn were going for pre-Thanksgiving.
We baked our own apple pie, but I would definitely have purchased a bakery-made sweet potato pie (TO EAT ALL BY MYSELF) if I had found one under twenty bucks.
20-30 bucks, plus the deposit on the plate.
Jesus fucking Christ! (taking out slide rule) Ratio of Wisconsin-to-NYC prices…that would be a SIXTY DOLLAR pie here.
What do they do, roll the crusts on the supple thighs of the Scandinavian Bikini Team?
I hear the apple pie gives you a happy ending!
Everything I’ve heard about Norske Nook is that it hasn’t been the same as when Helen Myhre owned the original one out in Osseo. I’ve only been to the one in Hayward, and it was okay, but I was warned that it was a shadow of its former self.
If anyone is interested, they have a pretty cool cookbook that is worth checking out if you’re into that kind of stuff.
In Michigan, we have two pie store chains. Grand Traverse Pie Company and Achatz Pies. Both are amazing (GTPC’s cherry crumble and blueberry peach are my favorites).
I guess pie is Serious Fucking Business here.
Not really. I was shocked when I visited NYC and saw that food prices were basically the same (or only a teeeeeny bit higher) as Michigan’s. Rent seems to be where most of the CoL differences lie (duh), while a lot of consumer goods are pretty on par.
I’ll stick with my Wisconsin pies baked in a bag, I think.
It’s in the menu.
$50 for a pie? Better be a really, really damn good pie for that kind of money.
Come to think of it, when I go to Wisconsin, I’m too full of cheese, bratwurst, fried perch, and beer to have any room left for pie.
Jim Gaffigan often visits his wife’s family in Milwaukee, so he knows of which he speaks when he says that trying to eat healthy in Wisconsin is like going to Amsterdam for rehab.
Probably already knows. OP said it was new construction, so it had to be inspected before it opened. The floor plan was most likely looked at and approved.
Probably too soon but I’m going to try again tomorrow. They sent me a coupon for a free meal for two.
