Very vaguely creepy.

Tristan, actually it was the Great Lakes Ren Faire in Ohio. I’ve only been to California once, and it was in San Diego. Ray, as far as I know, hasn’t been to California. Must just be a Ray thing. :^)

Sure, move it to an email if you’d like. wink wink

Hmmm…sort of like a young Sandra Bernhardt but not a boy. At least not any boys I know.

Hey nobody’s commneted on my little spiel so far.

That scene always scared me when I was little. I’m almost a semi-adult now and it STILL disturbs me.

Home-work? What is this “home-work”?

I know what it is, I just don’t do it (homework, you dirty-minded bastards  ) And I AP’d out of both college English classes :D. (Not only am I cute, I’m also smart!)

I don’t do my homework either. As a matter of fact I haven’t done any of my homework (besides research papers and the like, that are instant fails if not completed – those I get A’s on) since at least second grade. I don’t see any point in it, since I almost always understand the concepts as explained by the teachers and see no need to complete their mindless busy-work simply to grind the idea away in my mind. I usually ask if I can skip the homework by taking the test right away. My physics teacher is very nice about that. My English teachers simply think I’m a very smart slacker.

On the subject of homework, are you guys slackers?

Also- Gunslinger, you in high school or college? (just wondering.)

Anyway the homework i did on Sunday for English was an essay…we kind of have to do those. It was a language analyze thing…syntax and diction and imagery and details, ugh. Gotta love AP English Language!

Shouldn’t that be “sur la sujet des devoirs”?

Yes indeedy.

Just started college.

Whatever, I don’t really care.

Anywya doesn’t it depend on how much homework you’re talking about?

Slacker? Yes.

Devoirs? In the noun form, it’s always in plural form. Devoir is a verb form meaning “to be needed”. When you’re referring to homework (or something you need to do), it’s “devoirs”. I’m just not sure if you would put “des devoirs” or “du devoirs”. The pronoun might depend on quantity of homework involved. “De devoir” wouldn’t be right, anyway, because you need a form of “le”. You can use “le” and put “du” or use “les” and put “des” but you can’t just forget the “le” form and say “de”.

Sorry about the French lecture.

Hey I don’t have French till Wednesday! You can lecture me Tues night.

Speaking of French…I had to read the Little Prince. (Ou…Le Petit Prince.) The ending’s kind of creepy with him getting killed. And the claymation little prince movie is VERY creepy.

An incomplete answer to all the Lovecraft stuff:

Yog-Sothoth was the most powerful of the Ancient Ones, according to some. He appeared as a constellation of glowing globes. He is the Lurker at the Threshhold, and if you summon a lesser Ancient One, he may come in if you are too weak. He lives beyond everything, in Chaos.

Leng comes out of Lovecraft’s whole cloth, not Asian mythology. It was a place… an accursed, terrible place where the Ancient Ones once ruled and still held sway over some of the population.

As to why they appear in Stephen King… Lovecraft is one of his heroes. There are other references in SK books… in Stephen King’s It, featuring a monster who lives in the sewers, a character interviews an old man who mentions an old artist named Pickman who used to paint horrible pictures. Pickman’s Model is a Lovecraft story about an artist who paints the monsters living in his sewer.

Um, Very Vaguely Creepy?
Me, Gun, and Racinchikki all registered to the SD Message Boards within days of each other. Racin on the sixth of August, Gun on the 14th, and me on the 17th. Freaky, no?

Not really, since I registered in JUNE! But I did notice y’all registered within a few weeks of each other.

You know what I mean. Same summer an’how.

Has this thread stopped going to the top when somebody posts, or is my computer not working right?

Very Vaugely Creepy. The Welcome Menu thing says “Dress up like Britney.” Ugh…the idea of preteen/teenyboppers parading around with silicon breasts, pounds of strawaberry glitter lipgloss, and high pitched eunuch-esque voices, yep that’s appealing!

Here it is. I was really was a bit creeped out when i first saw it…mainly b/c of the idea that people would wanna dress up like that.

This is probably the most entertaining and interesting thread I have ever seen. One creepy thing…

  1. At military school (just graduated), we once had a new cadet flip out and disappear. We didn’t know where the hell he was, and the orders were to comb the campus to find him. My roommate and I set out to contribute to the search. We walked around the campus, asking random cadets if they had seen him and just, well, looked. It was a very gray, overcast, rainy, winter day. We walked up to an old building, which was beginning to get renovated as a new health center. The construction on the building hadn’t really started, the only signs of activity were some holes in the ground and a back-hoe nearby. We looked at the building…and it was damn creepy. It used to be a dorm, which means a layout of long halls, occasional alcoves, a latrine and shower room. Anyway, the place was completely desolate. The entrances were covered with padlocked iron gates, and most of the windows were boarded up. Some of them were open though, and we were able to glance into the old barracks. Just…creepy. Dark, wet, and full of grafitti. I wonder how the hell it got there (I know cadets did it, but who and when?). If anything, looking at the place was like looking at a dungeon. Forboding, and full of dark history. Anybody who has gone to a military academy can attest to the fact that the mental and sometimes physical tortures of young men occur there, and the pain that can occur in the barracks environment can be very harsh. It made me wonder, “Who used to live there? What was it like to be a cadet in the fifties, or the twenties?” It was like…an evil place. The furniture and cadets were gone, the building only a shell, but the bad things were still there, embedded in its walls.
My roommate turned to me and said, “I’ll bet that’s a good place to catch a smoke.”
I turned and said, “Yeah, but I wouldn’t have the balls to go in there in the first place”.
He nodded, and we were on our way.

PS: I know the sentence structure in this post sucks, but I’m just typing it out and going to sleep. If you tear vultures feel like tearing it up later, well, don’t expect me to care.

Goodnight

I don’t feel like tearing i t up, its ok.

So what happened to the guy, did u find him or did someone else? And yes that does sound like a creepy place, though military academy in general does, to me.

And yup, we are well aware of the stardom of our little thread. Or not so litte thread
