It turned out the bastard was in the damn infirmary, the first place the TAC OFFICER should have checked. (The tac officer is the adult in charge of a barracks. It’s not all “Lord of the Flies” action at these places)
As long as I am on…
My mother had come to PA to visit me one time, and had checked into a hotel. The hotel was nice, not like the Bates or anything. A big, apartment style place right by a very large mall. Anyway, she was upstairs in the room and I had stepped out to go to a Burger King nearby to catch a bite to eat. I ate there, and when I came back…well, something, surreal?..happened in the lobby. I was in uniform, and whenever I was in uniform in the civilian world I always felt a bit strange. I look like a 17 year old dressed as a chess piece or something. I walked into the lobby, and everything seemed to go into slow motion. I took a few steps forward, my heels making echoes, and for some reason I stopped with a five foot gap between the front desk and myself. I looked around, and the place was totally empty and dead quiet…except for the man behind the counter. He was black, maybe in his twenties, and was just staring at me, rocking back and forth. Why the hell he was looking at me, I don’t know. I stood there for maybe five seconds, and seemingly out of nowhere another hotel attendant appeared, carrying a cardboard box in his hands. He walked very slowly, coming between my line of view with the attendant behind the desk, and walked to a door next to the counter. He was looking at me the whole time. He turned around so his back was to the door, and then proceeded to slowly bang his ass against the door. After the third bang, the door opened. I don’t know how, the attendant at the desk didn’t move once. Like a friggin magic door or something. Both of them…staring at me the whole time. He went into the door, and walked over to the original attendant, put the box down…and they both continued to stare at me. I slowly turned and walked towards the elevator. The moment I was in front of it, the doors opened. There was nobody inside, and I sure as hell didn’t press any buttons. The doors just, opened. I stepped inside, pushed the button to my floor, and was out of there.
Yeah. It was creepy.
