Veterans Day! Am I supposed to fly the flag Sunday, Nov. 11th, or Monday, Nov. 12th, or both days?
The whole point of having a day of remembrance is to remember the freaking day.
Sunday. It’s also why school isn’t closed this Monday. Veteran’s Day is one of the very few holidays left that doesn’t get shuffled around to provide long weekends.
I know that, but the calendar says it is observed on Monday.
I believe schools here ARE closed, so that’s obviously a ‘depends on where you live’ kind of thing.
Put the flag up fro a whole week; why not? 
Well, our school probably would be closed Monday had we not been closed last Tuesday for the election. Pragmatism trumps patriotism any day of the week when you’re making a school calendar.
And, yeah, no one’s going to complain if you just fly that flag for the week!
Fly it the whole year. I do.
Veterans Day is a federal holiday that is celebrated on Monday this year. Fly the flag both days, and as already stated, all year is just fine. Just don’t fly it upside down and claim it was an eight-hour oopsie.
If you’re only going to fly it for the holiday, then Sunday, because that is the holiday. We fly ours all year, weather permitting.
As for it being observed on Monday, I think that’s just an excuse for some to get a 3 day weekend. Some schools are out around here, some districts, not. Some people work, some have a holiday. Usually they don’t move Veteran’s Day around to suit those wanting a vacation.
