I have a pair of KSOs but I’m not really much of a runner. The idea of running in them though is intriguing. Can someone provide a video link of the stride in a pair of these? In running shoes I always strike my heel first so I’m having a real hard time visualzing striking on the balls of my feet instead. For some reason, a prancing Pan comes to mind.
Edit: Just noticed the previously linked video. Okay, yes it seems more “prancing” to my eyes… any other resources on this would be great.
One of the most common styles of running is Pose and another is Chi. I’m not an expert in either, but I’ve heard there are similarities. You can find dozens of videos on YouTube for each running style, complete with “drills” to practice the motions before heading out for a run.
We just saw a pair “in the wild” the other day at BWI airport. First I’ve seen, actually, aside from my own pair which were a huge point of interest at a party a few days earlier.
I like this chick. She’s a little hippy-dippy, but she has a ton of really useful information for people who are just starting with barefooting. She has a whole bunch of videos.
I get so many random strangers asking me about my shoes now.
I friggin’ love my FiveFingers. I got a pair a couple months ago for my birthday. It’s too bad they’re so hideous*, or I’d wear them for more than working out, running and walking the dog.
I’ve always been a toe-runner (running on the balls of my feet more than straight-midfoot). My mom says when I was 3, she’d watch me run around parks on my toes. It’s not like my heels are high up in the air (only a fraction of an inch), but it’s so much more comfortable. Even now, if I’m not wearing high heels, I’ll default to walking on the ball of my foot instead of heel-toe.
Doesn’t help that the store I went to had only 8 pairs total in stock and one in my size, which was that weird aqua-turquoise blue. I look like I stepped in that goo dentists use to make molds of your teeth.
