what would I expect if I mixed the two substances?
REALLY, really bad idea. Depending on quantity, it could kill you. (IANAD, but I’ve been prescribed more than my share of Vicodin, and I take those warnings very seriously.)
Ok I hade one 350 milligram vicadan and two corronas and one After shock and An Ice 101, as you cant tell I am not completely gone. LOL but I am also using spell correct.
just wonder what I could expect.
Well, I do it all the time, but I also have a strong natural drug resistance, as well as an even stronger resistance provided by taking huge quantities of drugs on a regular basis, and I also completely lack any sense of self-preservation.
Which probably doesn’t answer your question. Expect to be tired.
Alcohol affects the chemical transport mechanisms in your liver. Frequently, it accelerates the release rate or time of absorbtion into your bloodstream. A normally benign dose of tranquilizer (barbituate) or painkiller (codeine derivative or analogue) can suddenly be released at a rate that can affect your autonomic functions (i.e., cardiac rythym or respiration). Large doses of these drugs combined with heavy alcohol intake can frequently result in death.
I ADVISE YOU TO NEVER REPEAT THIS EXPERIMENT.
When your judgement is sufficiently impaired due to the intense drug synergy that can result from this dangerous combination, it is not unknow to ingest additional quantities that lead to toxic side effects. Many people have died doing this and many more will die in the future. TRY NOT TO BE ONE OF THEM.
While I lack the medical background to confirm or deny Zenster’s first point, he’s definitely right on the latter. Keep a sharp eye on that sort of behavior, and avoid it at all costs. I’ve done this before, to the point of pretty severe OD, and I can tell you, it ain’t fun.
As a pharmacist, I can say: Zenster’s right. This is the sort of combination that can kill, with little warning. When you have a respiratory depressant in your system (Vicodin or other narcotic), it’s no time to be screwing with your liver metabolism. And if you do okay this time, THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION THAT NEXT TIME WILL BE OKAY. Just another form of Russian Roulette.
There’s a number of other drugs that, by themselves, are relatively non-toxic, but are potentially lethal with the addition of a little alcohol.
All I am feeling right now is just a complete numb of nothing. but I am not “gone” I will add another post after I sleep it off.
The abuse of controlled substances is illegal. I direct your attention to the ATMB thread FAQ - guidelines for posting at the SDMB
Since the question has been answered (by a pharmacist no less), I’ll close this thread.

Might want to get your money back.
Thanks for checking in, duke. Get some rest and plenty of (non-alcoholic) liquids.
