What is the accepted time between taking the last dose of Vicodin and drinking a couple of social drinks (i.e glass of wine or a couple beers, not binge drinking). 24 hours? 12 hours?
I usually have one drink before, another while I’m taking the med,
and finally a couple/few shortly thereafter.
The medicine bottle will probably tell you, if the pharmacist didn’t. I imagine the two don’t mix. Just don’t drive.
Haha funny guy, but the thread title specifies alcohol. 
The bottle doesn’t say, and the paperwork only says not to take if you drink more than 3 drinks a day.

Are you implying that this is a warning rather than a suggestion?
One way to decide is that if the Vicodin is dosed every 4-6 hours, 4-6 hours should be a reasonable period, since the effect of the Narcotic has worn off.
These are rough guidelines, and your mileage may vary. Individual responses do vary. If you ask for a formal opinion you are going to get a much longer timeline in order to accommodate the most sensitive patients.
I would not recommend drinking alcohol within 12 hours if you are drinking (responsibly) and driving/etc. Were anything to happen, it would be counted against you according to the most extreme possible sensitivity. Remember that the acetaminophen in the Vicodin and the alcohol have additive effects on sensitive livers (the organ; not the livers of life).
I’ve been taking 2-3 Vicodin a day for the past week or so, in the evening, over a period of 5-7 hours. I usually take one and then a half every couple of hours. On some nights I will have a drink, or two. About an ounce and a half w/ 2-3 times that in mixer. I don’t notice much difference. I would caution you to approach it slowly as people react differently, not only to drugs, but in mixing the two.
As suggested, I never drive after drinking, even one drink, or after taking more that one Vicodin.
That would be my major concern (other than the codiene and alcohol 1-2 punch, which you may not be prepared for). I don’t condone using alcohol and Vicodin, but I’ve done it when in intense pain and lived to tell about it. I was less concerned about my liver at the time, now I wouldn’t consider it just from the liver aspect.
Thanks guys, just called the pharmacist and she suggested 24 hours. I thought it should be something like the 4-6 hours (or 8-12 to be safe) to make sure the Acetaminophen is out of the system. That is what I was worried about. I don’t want catastrophic liver damage. Alcohol does more than enough damage by itself. 
I just wanted a couple glasses of Saki with dinner and I had taken a Vicodin this morning when I woke up due to pain. (I had a root canal yesterday evening)
In the presence of alcohol, the acetaminophen can be metabolized (changed into) a lethal product. It causes what is known as fatty necrosis of the liver, resulting in liver failure and death. I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone. A cousin of mine used to work really hard during the week and come home and drink himself into oblivion on the weekends. On Sunday night, he would take 3 tylenol so he could go to work on Monday. He ended up dying of liver failure. So I would say watch out… Very dangerous combination.
A couple years ago I would suggest washing the Vicodan down with a liter of vodka, but I now know (and care) that’s bad advice. Used to do it with Tylenol 3s, too. Which was wrong. Now, my liver numbers are normal. Didn’t used to be.

What others have said here is correct, at least that has been what I was told by my doctor and pharmacist. The real danger concerning alcohol and any medication containing acetaminophen is the risk of liver failure. Acetaminophen is quite dangerous on it’s own in large amounts, adding in the booze is a dangerous combination.
