Where is this woman?? Who is she!? Exactly what “axe” did she have to grind and why?! Just saying that such a person did/does exist and is/was doing such a thing isn’t good enough! You need to produce evidence, otherwise you are just saying that “2+2=5 bc I say so” and that is no argument at all. It is also true that the Soviets were spreading many rumors about many in the US gov’t for years but, if you say that many ppl, lets say a thousand of them, are something that many ppl really are, and in this instance gay and/or are cross-dressers, if you say that enough, eventually you are going to be spreading a true rumor about someone and you don’t even know that it is true.
There is also a reality that Hoover denied that the Mafia ever existed and then went on to contradict himself by saying that he didn’t want to send federal agents to confront the Mafia at their own game bc they would be perverted by the morals of the Mafia. Lets just say for the sake of argument that Hoover was a cross-dresser, which is the rumor that I am most familiar with (In this sense whether he was gay or not isn’t the point!), and that the Mafia found out about that and blackmailed him with this information. Maybe that’s why he never went after them! There has been much speculation over this for years and some corroboration from those in the federal gov’t and in the Mafia and although the credibility of many of these ppl should most definitely be held in doubt, that doesn’t mean that you throw the baby out with the bathwater!
There have been pictures of Hoover wearing dresses, stockings, makeup, & such over the years and clearly many, if not most of them, were Photoshopped, or altered thru some other process but, I have seen a few, fully black & white photos, that looked quite original and unaltered. I’ve looked for them recently and haven’t been able to find them. But, that is hardly evidence that they don’t exist. And in my book is clear evidence that those who think Hoover was a Godsend to American law enforcement are still trying to protect their “savior” as if there is anything worth protecting about this dinosaur who did more to harm America and its citizens, what with inhibiting Civil Liberties, Civil Rights, etc., much more so than anyone else in the 20th century!
