Victoria Day Dopefest in Victoria, anyone?

This is what Jim looks like.

Okay, this is what we actually look like. Except not as dressed-up.

Is this still on? I was thinking about calling and asking if I should make reservations; it’s a busy place at best and may be very much so on the holiday.

Yup, we’re still planning on coming and meeting anyone who shows up. If you wanted to make reservations, that would be SUPER!!!

(We booked a room at the Travelodge Victoria - it’s not a rathole, is it?)

Actually, it’s not great and is not in a good part of town - that end of Gorge is a little shady. May I suggest instead a Traveller’s Inn , either Downtown or City Centre.

I’m still in.

The owner of the Travellers’ Inn chain once called me a slut on the phone, so I’m prejudiced against those motels.

(I worked at an answering service at the time.)

To be fair, since pictures have been linked to, this is a totally lame picture from yesterday, and I’m pretty sure I don’t really look like this…

Me. (Ugh!) In my defence, the office has been insane lately, and it’s starting to show. I’m not vain enough at the moment to hunt around for a more flattering snap!

Well I think the Gorge Rd Travelodge would be a bad plan. I actually stayed at Traveller’s Inns when I visited here a couple times before I lived here and they seemed fine. Both are on my route home from the place I last worked and they always look tidy and well-kept that I can see. I don’t know any others to recommend because the ones I know are the ones near me right downtown (i.e. expensive).

Missed the edit to add - sorry, I haven’t yet picked a photo-sharing site so no photos of me. If I can make a reservation, I’ll make it in the name of ‘featherlou’ so check at the desk

I should be able to make it as well. I’m on the right in this photo.

I called and they said they can’t take reservations for a group of less than ten people but that even on a holiday there’s lulls. They suggested getting there around 5 pm. I’m willing to go over early and hold down the fort; I’ll just need a final count at some point so I’ll know how many seats to save.

I think most downtown places will be pretty busy that day but at least it’s a fairly large place and they said it shouldn’t be a big problem to get a table.

I’m sure they’re fine. I’m just still miffed about the comment from John A.

Thanks, Quiddity. We can get there earlier, too - we’re not on a particular schedule at this point.

Hi, everybody! Can we get a head count on who plans to come out for beers/dinner Monday? Quiddity, Jim has a couple of friends in Victoria who plan to join us, too, if you get to the restaurant before us to grab a table.

Me.

Despite my enthusiasm in post #2, (sorry, this thread dropped off my radar!) I can’t come out and play after all.

Prepping to move and have a ton of things to do. (Besides which, my GF is working.)

I’ll raise a glass westward at six, anyway. Cheers!

I’m in.

So there’ll be seven people?

Sounds right, Ms Quiddity. We’re heading over on the ferrie today - my first time on the ocean!

Hope it was a good trip! Sorry 'bout the weather. It’s supposed to be nice tomorrow.

I might show up for a minute
